Maybe I was a little hasty based of the thread title. I've re read the thread and I can see the merit in the idea in some form.

I would save all the headaches around balancing by making it a title or perhaps EPT. Reason I say this, as a mod or system you have multiples lots in multilevel ships to try and balance for. What is fine for a Defender could make a B too much etc.

Not sure why this just popped into my head but here's the idea:

Accuracy Correctors that work on Defense. Requirement: BR instead of boost.

Since we always want offense to be better than defense what limits does it need?

Just a starting point perhaps:

Experimental Evasion System. Requirements: BR action.

When defending, during the "Modify Attack Dice" step, you may perform a free BR action to cancel all of your dice results. Then, you may add 1 evade and 1 focus result to your roll.

BR keeps it from being on every ship (and probably some ships that would need this). It almost certainly locks you into the focus action (since you want that for end results and can't BR 2x a turn).

What slot should this take up and what should it cost? Other requirements or ideas?

The way this is worded it does not prevent ships that don't have the BR action from taking the upgrade

Right now we don't need any more hard 2 damage mitigation. We already have Poe, Soontir, IG-88, Fat Han, Corran Horn and a whole load of other ships that can be built to consistently negate 2 hits in an attack. The reason why you see HLC and TLT and 3 PWTs is because many 2 firepower shots can be negated. You end up having to do 3 hits per attack to do a single damage which removes most 2 firepower ships that don't have secondary weapons. IF anything we need more ways to boost low firepower ships to where they can contend more of these super armored ships.

I agree. This was more of a thematic thought exercise. Although how many HLCs do you see on ships with 2 dice primaries? And TLTs a turret so not exactly an every ship fix either.
