Does a crit deal damage, and when can you check range?

By Darkcloak, in X-Wing

Do bomb tokens get to overlap ship bases and asteroids upon placement?

Where does your dial go after you set it and can you change it once its set?

Can you perform the same action twice?

After you lose a shield can you put the token back on your pilot card next round when no one is looking?

Suppose some kid is standing next to you running a Heaver worthy list and cheating his face off. Do you say something to him like "please don't reset your dial after I've made my move" and carry on? Or should you let his dad worry about that? I mean, dad obviously has to play his kid at home so he must have to deal with it anyways. I never said anything though I am sure I'm not the only one who noticed the little cheater. There was one point where it was painfully obvious that the kid had regenned a shield by magic. Poe sitting there with a stress and an Ion token, but somehow last turn he had a focus token to use on R5P9 at the end of the round. We all just kind of looked at each other and then moved on.

Then, near the end of the game the kid pipes up and asks if there will be a prize for the winner because he thinks he is going to win. At the table the store owner is playing at. You can see Dad groaning on the inside.

At the end of the night we called it a draw because it was an hour past closing and everyone won a dice bag for their X-Wing dice. Like everyone, literally. Even my wife who didn't play at all got a dice bag. Take that kiddo. You got the same prize as everyone else. Guess that extra shield and all those free crit cards didn't net you anything more than anyone else deserved anyways. I think that's fair justice don't you guys?

On a serious note though, here is a question about rules. Say I put Daredevil and Experimental Interface on Soontir Fel. How does this work? Does it? Here is how I think it works. You move, take a boost or whatever. Then you EI the Daredevil card. The cards say apply stress at the end of the action, EI says do an action, then take stress. So once you do DD you pick up double stress and then two focus? Any takers?

Anyways. That's my rant. X-Wing Night rocked again despite the cheater child. Now it's a regular thing. Every Thursday. Next week I'm gonna fly the Purple Tie Affair. We'll see how these Rebel Aces stand up to a swarm! Mwuhahahaha!

title) yes? when you declare target lock, or combat phase. ONLY THOSE TIMES.

1) Yes

2) Either on the pilot card or next to the ship depending on status of Furrball; 2.a) not once any ship has activated

3) no, but you can be assigned a token, and perform that action.

4) repeat after me "Judge!"

5) sure

6) Action, EI, Daredevil, movement from DD stressx2. One focus, its not per stress. die following turn

Title: I figured.

1: lol, ouch. Ha-ha. Didn't happen to me but it felt wrong when Deathrain did it to someone else. Boom. Splat. I'll be careful...

2: Yeah... I think I like em on the play area, as close to their ships as possible. Seems like keeping it on the card is a little too tempting for some...

3: Sure there is probably a way to get a focus token onto a stressed ship that has a fresh Ion token but that definitely did not happen. The Ion hit even dealt Poe a crit ( which was subsequently treated as some kind of psuedo-card ) so I find it pretty hard to believe the kid just pulled a foci out of thin air. Unless my Kyle Katarn was putting his tokens on the wrong guy I just don't see how Poe regenned that shield.

4: Judge! Oh wait... Is that me since I'm the Glorious Leader? Bork that! I'll just ask one of the shop owners to act as judge if need be. Or should I take on this mantle?

5: Sure!

6: Aww dang. But hang on. Are you sure? EI+DD= 2 stress, so with Fels wording... Receive a stress, not receive stress. Makes me think that for each stress token you take a focus. I imagine it has a clarification in the FAQ. I had to book but I lost it...

What number are we on now?

2) it can get confusing if its Imperial Swarm v imperial swarm (or any faction) and thats the only time i've found it reasonable to have it by pilot cards.

3) gotta BOLO (be on look out) for little things that people think they can get away with (knowingly or not.)

4) before the tournament assign someone (in this case Store owner) as the TO if you're playing in a game that needs TOing

6) now you've got me curious, i've always played that way, but you may be right... EITHER WAY if he does (which im not sure of) next turn he gets no actions, so he's a sitting duck.

When you receive a stress token, you may assign 1 focus token to your ship.

2 Stress for Fel -> 2 triggers for his ability -> 2 focus tokens but you still die the next turn...

18: oh right! EI takes your next action phase. Zap. Sorry Soontir. I just blew you up for an extra hard turn. Whoops! Ha-ha. That's not really worth 6 points...

Oh well. We did all win dice bags and it was super fun anyways. I got my sweet sweet revenge on the younster when my YT-2400 made space dust out of the totally innocent Lambda the store owner was flying. I figured why not? Its a furball right? If you can't take revenge on the one that vaped you, buddy, take revenge on the one you can vape.

It's also possible the kid didn't understand some rules. For example, I've seen people think that if your dial has a green 1 forward, then the 1 forward you do because of ion tokens would be green and therefore trigger r2-d2. That's wrong, since the ion rules specify that it's a white maneuver, but it's still an understandable mistake for a very new or very young player.

Nah, Poe had the astro that lets you spend a focus to regen at the end of the round. There was no way for Poe to grab a focus since he red moved. Kyle put a card on him with the Ion turret so the next turn when Poe had a shield... There was only one way that could have happened. And it wasn't the astromech. Lol

I understand that some people, especially new players, can get mixed up, but considering that he had a tackle box to make a sailor blush and was running his ships quite well... I'd wager the kid is even better at X-Wing than most of the players there. He flew well but he felt like he needed to fudge a few things here and there. The damage card thing, well that's just a misinterpreted rule. In fact most of these issues are comprehension based. I guess I just feel like it would be out if turn for me to enforce such things in a casual setting.

On the other hand we want to get into Organized Play so shouldn't we all be taking an active part in understanding the rules better?
