Anti-Meta

By chopan, in X-Wing Squad Lists

Hi everyone! I'm trying to build an "Anti-Meta" list to play with using wither Bomber or Punisher.

What do you think?

This.

You will have a hard time keeping targets in arc with the lumbering Lambdas.

Even though they have EU?

If you fly your shuttles very well then you shouldn't have too much trouble except against true arc dodgers. Problem I see is you are going to have a hard time keeping the shuttles and Jonus within range 1 of each other if you are flying well enough to keep other ships in arc. Especially with EU, Jonus isn't that fast.

That means give up Jendon if you want to fly a dual shuttle list and think about something that can guard your shuttles flanks instead of flying Jonus to try and boost their offensive rolls.

Remember that EU on a shuttle is all about setting up for future turns and keeping the play area in front of you more than it's behind you.

EU takes the Lambda from, probably, the worst maneuvering ship in the game (other ships have a bad dial but can take a turret, thus mitigating the poor dial) to a poorly maneuvering ship. They can really move with EU, but they still can't turn for anything. The lack of k-turn and turret really makes them a one-pass type of ship. Once they get past you, you can stay in their baffles fairly easily.

No offense to anyone out there, but more than one Lambda in a list is a gimmick that had better be really, really good at flying. Mostly they are Vader and Palp caddies. You will get much more use out of a Bounty Hunter with Gunner.

So maybe its better something like this?

PILOTS

Bounty Hunter (38)
Firespray-31 (33), Gunner (5)

Captain Jonus (32)
TIE Bomber (22), Extra Munitions (2), Proton Torpedoes (4), Cluster Missiles (4)

Epsilon Squadron Pilot (15) x 2

Jonus's ability does not work on himself. While quite powerful, it forces you to go all-in or not at all.

How about this?

Bounty Hunter 33pts

Jonus with Determination 23 pts

Scimitar with Cluster Missiles and Extra Munitions x2 22 pts each

Or just go whole-hog Bombers with this

Jonus with Seismic Charge and Determination 25 pts

Scimitar with Assault Missiles, Seismic Charge, and Extra Munitions x3 25 pts each

Your alpha strike will hit like a truck. Just target the lowest Agility opponent and watch the splash damage flow.
