Another stupid list that probably won't work done by me.

By Geryon, in X-Wing Squad Lists

Hey what's up guys, aside from an awesome A wing list in the green arrow thread (props to the OP), I'll be taking along a BBA list I've dubbed my "Knife Party" list (no affiliation to the music artist).

I figure it's fairly retarded and probably won't work nearly as well as it does in my head but hey... Gotta get some time in with those B wings somehow right?

So here we go...

Nera Dantels

Adv Proton Torps

Extra Munitions

Han Solo

E2

Keyan Farlander

PTL

E2

Kyle

Jake

Test Pilot

Chardan refit

PTL

Expert Handling

Sets up two 5 Dice alpha strike turning eyes into hits without requiring an arc which is good because I'm still not great at this game so having the freedom to not worry about getting the arc perfect for the shot. Then pretty much get stuck in with the pointed sticks.

Kenyan and Kyle pretty much just keep getting in close with the red manoeuvres turning stress into focus and brawling like a bawse and jake tries to be as annoying as possible arc dodging (that's the plan anyway) and doing his little 4 action trick...

Any thought on this and explanations as to why it probably doesn't work would be greatly appreciated

You have the makings of a decent list

Geryon, but I think we can make it better

1.take expert handling off of Jake. Remember jakes ability lets him barrel roll after getting a focus token so we don't need expert handling. Instead, lets put veteran instincts on him to raise his pilot skills to nine. Jakes an arc dodger and with a pilot skill of nine, he would get to move after most ships, so you could use his ability to get out of an opponents arc. Then you could take a focus token as your action which triggers his ability and barrel roll, then trigger PTL and boost. (3 actions!). This will keep him alive longer.

2. Let's take Han off of Nera. Remember you have to spend a target lock to use adv. torps so you wouldn't be able to use Han as he requires spending a TL as well. Let's give Nera the elite talent deadeye, which changes the spend TL heading to spend focus heading. Now you can spend a focus instead of a TL when firing adv torps. Since you want to have a focus token to change the eye results on adv torps, give her the recon specialist crew to give her 2 focus tokens a turn when she takes a focus action, one for adv torps and another to change the eye results.

3.let's take Kyle off of keyan. When you stress keyan as you will using PTL, his ability works like a built in focus token offensively at least and since your only rolling one defense dice, you don't really need it there either. Let's give him Jan ors crew instead. She changes a focus token to an evade on the ship she's equiped to or any ship range 1-3 of keyan. B-wings are glass canons as they only have that single defense dice. If you were to use focus as one of your 2 PTL moves, you could change it to a much needed evade token. Nera needs to be in range 1 to use adv torps so if she's in an opponents arc she will be taking tons of damage, however we could have her use recon specs and if she's at range 1-3 of keyan, change one of the focuses on her to an evade to help her survive.(although then you don't get to spend it on modifying adv. Torps then).

In the end, these are just suggestions so feel free to do whatever you feel is right!

I definately agree with Evenflow30. With those changes that looks like a pretty good list! The one thing I find a shame is no autothrusters on Jake, but the only thing you could really drop would be Jan ors, and I rather agree that using her would keep the Bs alive longer.

I love your build Geyron, i'll try it with the Evenflow suggestios. Is it possible to swap Jake for other pilot? Or maybe a Bwing Blu + FCS?

So first of all a big thank you to the pearl jam fan with the plan.

I figured my list probably wouldn't have worked but with those changes it should be a lot of fun to play!!

I think the PS9 on Jake is going to be one of those things that'll prove really fun for me and really annoying for everyone else. Couple his high PS with the 3 action arc dodging shenanigans an I'm hoping to make some people say some bad words.

I'm glad I'll still be able to get off my two big alpha strikes as that should help deal with any large ships like the decimator.

When it comes to Keyan (which my iFail auto corrected to kenyan), why exactly is Jan the better option when you're using Keyan for knife fighting? I mean he'll be using PTL for a second action and K Turning so wouldn't it be more efficient to use Kyle? I'm not arguing against Jan as I can see some merit in the choice but as I said I'm not great at the game so unsure why jab is the better choice. Could you please give me a little extra on why this is?

Cheers for the input guys and I'm glad you liked the core concept of the list ☺️

I'm glad you liked the build! As for why I like Jan better than kyle I can break that down for you. Let's start with what Kyle (crew), Jan(crew), and keyan (ability) do:

Kyle: after you remove a stress token from your ship you may assign a focus token to it.

Jan:once per round, when a friendly ship at range 1-3 takes a focus action or is assigned a focus token you may assign that ship an evade token instead. (Remember your considered friendly to yourself so Jan also works on the ship she's attached to.)

Keyan: when attacking, you may remove one stress token to change ALL eye results to hits results.

Here's a scenario:

You move keyan, barrel roll then PTL and target lock an enemy TIE Interceptor at range 2, giving keyan a stress token. both keyan and the interceptor are range 2 to each other and both have each other in arc. You have initiative.

Now you attack with keyan first. You roll 1 hit, 2 blanks, spend your TL and get a blank and an eye. You use keyans ability, which triggers kyle and gives you a focus. You change the eye to a hit with keyan's ability.

* now since keyans ability already changes eyes to hits, their is no reason to use that newly acquired focus token since keyan already did exactly what the focus does, there's no eyes to change.

Now the interceptor attacks you rolls, rerolls with a TL and gets hit, hit, crit against you. So we can spend the focus token on defense. However, you only have one measley defense dice, and with that lone single dice you can roll a blank (focus wasted), an eye( focus used!) Or an evade (focus wasted). You can see that using probability, that focus doesn't help us that much.

Now let's say you have Jan instead. You move keyan, TL then PTL a focus token. You attack, use TL, change eyes using keyans ability. Interceptor attacks hit, hit, crit. Now that focus token you took? Well Jan changes it to an evade token with 100% certainty, it doesn't matter what the green dice roll comes out as so as long as you use Jan, we eliminate blanks and if you manage to roll an evade on the dice you now have two evade tokens. This is why in my opinion Jan is superior over Kyle in your build.

Good luck and let us know how you do!

I tried the Nera + rec spec, Jake and Keyan + Jan Ors variation tonight vs a Vader + Howlrunner + 4 Tie swarm and was brutalized. I believe part of the reason was I stored the fickle green dice too close to the red dice and contaminated them. Attack dice were absolutely paghetic! Point blank vs Vader from the rear and rolled 4 blanks. The only ship my opponent lost was due to a miserable rock!

The other part was my absolute lack of being able to anticipate the opponent's moves. Jake the Snake died without firing a shot. Keyan was picked apart like a child with a fly. I couldn't muster an evade or focus token at R3 through a rock! Not a good day for the rebellion.

I'd like to hear how anyone else did flying this list.
