Edge's Epic Essentials

AUTOMATED PROTOCOLS:

Once per round, after you perform an action that is not a recover or reinforce action, you may spend 1 energy to perform a free recover or reinforce action.

INSTIGATOR

After you perform a recover action, recover 1 additional shield.

Step 1) Perform some action that's not recover or reinforce.

Step 2) Spend 1 energy to get a free recover action.

Step 3) Recover 1 additional shield due to the free recover action.

Right. So you get 1 free shield from the title in addition to whatever you gain from a Recover action. In your prior post, you said you got 2 free shields, which is what I had a problem with.

Alright....spend 1 energy and get 2 shield and no action. Not free....

Shouldn't it be:

Step 1) Perform some action that's not recover or reinforce.

Step 2) Spend 1 energy to get a free recover action.

Step 3) Perform the recover action

Step 4) Recover 1 additional shield due to the free recover action.

Recover :

Ships with the action icon in their action bar may perform the recover action. To do so, remove all energy tokens from the corresponding Ship card. For each energy token removed, that ship recovers one shield. For ships with multiple Ship cards, for each energy token removed, the ship recovers one shield on either of its section. A huge ship cannot exceed a ship card’s shield value with a recover action.

[Edit] P.S. so with the recover action you could spend much more that just one energy.

One energy to get the free action and an extra shield then all remaining energy for the action itself.

On the recover action you must spend ALL your energy recovering shields. That is unless you have the Shield Tech.

Either way it will be more than one energy I suppose.

[Edit] Unless you can spend zero with Shield Technician.

Yes, I believe you can choose to spend zero with Shield Technician.

Of course, the alternative to all these shenanigans is to just take Backup Shield Generator and gain one shield for the cost of one energy any round you feel like it, no combo or actions required.

Part 2: How do I play Epic? is here!

As usual, feedback, comments, and suggestions are all welcome. Fly casual, and be epic!

Regarding the Gozanti, what's the point of the Docking Clamps mod? If you don't equip it, can you not carry any ships?

Derp. Thanks for the clarification of the obstacle placement rules. We've been doing it incorrectly for some time and complaining that it was difficult to fit all of the obstacles on the table! (Didn't realize that they could be placed within R1-2 of the table ends and thought they had to be at R1 of each other. Must....develop....reading....comprehension!)

Common mistake. GenCon epic had people doing all sorts of odd things with the rocks. The two rocks within range 1 of each other is fun. Started taunting my opponent to try to fly between them.
