Feedback Pirates

By zerotc, in X-Wing

Against aces, is the idea to fly Feedback Pirates in formation with hopes of one-shotting something like a Soontir? Or do you split them up for more coverage with Feedback?

I usually fly swarm, but my experience with Feedback Pirates is limited and I could use some suggestions.

I have a casual tourney coming up with some friends who are relatively new to the game. Planning to run a fun, exciting list with lots of explosions!

5 x Binayre Pirate [Feedback Array]

Trandoshan Slaver [Greedo]

Thanks,

4 feedbacks (blacksun for extra thematic appeal + **** TLTs) + vi, FCS; thrusters Xizor is a pretty legit list

The Zs are extra expendable with array + Xizor's ability, and you'll get a PS 9 ace with a 3 point bid in case the feedback plan falls through

My only experience is flying two of them. (See linked post from my signature below for a little discussion on that list.)

I was flying 5 ships total, and had great success using the formation to close a net around a large ship and burn it down quickly. I think the key is to save your Feedback damage for when you really need it. Don't pass up a 3-dice R1 Attack opportunity if the corralled ship only has 1 agility. On the other hand, go ahead and use that guaranteed FA damage if your pirate is likely going to get focus fired down the next round.

4 feedbacks (blacksun for extra thematic appeal...)

Haha - unfortunately I repainted 4 of my Z95s. Couldn't stand them being uniformly white when they weren't being run with Xizor or as Black Sun Enforcers.

Feedback Array is also great when you use one of the Z-95s as a blocker. You may not be able to attack the ship that bumped your blocker, but you can still zap them.

I don't know that it's always a sound strategy but if I can take a ship off the table with a zap, I'll do it almost every time.

I've been interested in this list lately, too, but I only have 3 Zs. I decided to test it on Vassal with my brother last weekend

6x Binayre Pirates + Feedback Array

1x Black Sun Soldier + Feedback Array

I chose this load-out because it will save me $40 in the long run because I have 1 Rebel Z and would only need 2 more Most Wanted and 2 more IG-2000.

ANYWAY...

My strategy was to fly a loose cluster of ships. You don't want to bunch them up too much, but you want the range-1 bubbles to overlap. Think of your flying as if you were casting a net. You want the enemy ships to get caught in the net so that there's no escape. As WWHSD said, blocking with these ships is practically ideal because you can avoid incoming fire but still deal damage.

My brother was flying Soontir, Jax, and an Omicron. Jax went down fast, then we were able to chew through the Omicron with our primary wepon attacks. Finally we hunted down Soontir and caught him in our web of Feedback.

It's definitely a list I think I'll make slow purchases toward. It was fun and challenging to fly.

I've only ever pulled it off a couple of times, but the "self-bump block" with a Feedback Z works has been effective when used at the right time. It lets you leave part of a formation behind in a way that is kind of unexpected. Move the ship you want to leave behind first and have it bump one of it's buddies.

A three 3 K-Turn by the Z-95 that got bumped will leave you with an arc that covers anything that bumps into the one you left behind as well as having a considerable about of overlap in the Feedback Array areas of effect.

EDIT: Unless you got really lucky with the angle that the Z-95 that bumped ended up, the Z-95s will bump again if they ionize themselves with Feedback array so remember to do the ion move for the one without stress first so you retain its action.

Feedback pirates V2:

"Dear FFG, while traveling to attend an event near my location some of my collection got damaged and wet. Is it possible for you to send me replacements of these cards and cardboard inserts: gold squadron pilot, twin laser turret, bandit squadron pilot, syndicate thug. Thanks in advance and kind regards!"

"Dear FFG customer support. I have recently bought the TFA Core Set for my nephew, Legit Realname. Upon checking the contents carefully and comparing with the included components listed on http://xwing-miniatures.wikia.com, it has come to my attention that the set is missing four damage cards (2 major hull beraches and something else) and the "Wirde" upgrade cards. If you could send me an extra damage deck, as well as that card, that would be great. Merry Christmas."

"Dear FFG. First I want to say thank you for making the best game ever. I am writing to you to inquire about the Imperial Raider. I have just recently bought the model after recovering from made-up alcoholism i just came up with (alcoholismus imaginarii). The game is very important to me, and very important to my disabled brother as well, who I also came up with a minute ago after figuring out this might work and getting a reply from customer service. I didn't even make up what kind of disability my brother is supposed to have. Anyway, here is a picture of damage and imperfections present on the model. It's totally not shopped. Here is the Raider from another angle. You can see the damage right there. Don't worry about the timestamp not making sense considering the apparent time of day. The place I live in has two suns. Anyway, if you could send me a replacement Raider that would be great. While you are doing that, since I know you to be the best game company around, make sure that it also comes with 4 advanced targeting computers, cause you can never have enough of those. Thank you so much. Kind regards.

It took me a long time trying to figure out who you were making fun of ... and then I realized it was a pun. :) Nice work!
