Thematically your reasoning is sound. From a game mechanics stand point... 5 Prototype Pilot A-wings with proton rockets at range 5 is probably a little broken.

i am interested in a new theme of ordinance that have a longer range. I am not interested in using the range 5 ruler. I can see a missiles/toprs with infinite range if the ship is in arc.

I can also see missiles/torps functioning as moving mines

I can also see them modifying your primary attack.

I petition a petition against tlt-weeks. and yeah: while it would be easier to type it in capitals, it has become a thing of principle to type tlts exclusively as tlts. because more tlts can't be a bad thing

a practical fix could be:

no instant fix, but would make it not such a terrible, terrible, idea either.

Nah, I'm rather serious. Torpedoes and missiles are self steering, whereas cannons are pointed in the same direction as your lasers, and have you tried shooting a turret while the ship banks and weaves?

There's no real reason they should be so accurate at long range.

The fix ordinance needs is removing TL as a requirement. Firing without a lock should be a penalty (maybe range mods apply) or a bonus when you do have one.
