Bossk's ability allows you to turn a [KABLAM] into two [boom]s if your attack hits.
That means that his ability doesn't trigger until immediately before damage is dealt.

His ability probably wouldn't trigger at all, because the crit result would be the only thing that could be canceled. Chances are, it wouldn't be there to convert.

Agreed, it's probably unlikely to connect, but if it did, it would count when "dealing damage"
Admittedly, I haven't flown the YV-666 much ever, but I have shot at it a couple times. Do you find yourself with targets in R1 of your primary arc often?

Some players do. I tend to end up with very few ships involved in a toe-to-toe melee, as I prefer to keep the range open. I play a maneuvering game more than the slugfest. I'd prefer to make some distance and maybe lose a couple of turns of shooting in order to get in a better position and maybe get multiple shots in succession.If you can get behind an opponent, there's not too much they can do that can't really be anticipated.
