Does triggering this give an automatic face up damage card even if the hull zone still has shields? If so how is this card not OP?
Assault Proton Torpedos
Because it requires a black crit die.
It adds one damage. Assault Concussion Missile adds two damage.
It's good, but why is it game breaking?
And yes, it's one face up damage before damage is totaled, and applied.
It does. Why would it be OP? It's just one damage. It's *good*, but you need to be at close range AND score a crit.

You get one copy with the shrimp...so that's a bit limiting.
Good card, but hardly op.
Edited by Green KnightAdmiral Screed would guarantee the crit as long as you're in range. If you get 2 attacks that's 2 guaranteed faceup damage cards. Guess it's just another option and personal preference which is what makes this game so much fun

Screed only works once per ships activations.
Assault Proton Torpedoes are amazing! Sure they only do 1 damage but they still trigger Precision Strike unlike ACMs, Crits can cripple a ship in many ways. They include stripping shields before a player gets to assign Redirect damage, dealing more damage, halving repair values, and a number of other effects.
I personally think Assault Proton Torpedoes better than Assault Concussion Missiles.
Works great with an Engine Tech based double ram.
As has been stated, the single largest glaring weakness of Assault Proton Torpedos is Range .
As a Rebel Player, up until this point, I've done my damndest to never, ever, EVER have one of my Ships within the Imperial Players Close Range band, unless its already fired this turn, and I get to Shoot and then Scoot!
This will get harder with things like the Raider showing up, but even then, its only the Raider-I who has the slot, and he'll be trying with a maximum of 3 Black Die out the front... A Side shot is even less likely with the one black... Of course, this will be partially mitigated with Ordnance experts, but even then, you start getting a very expensive disposable missile, rather than a missile boat.
The Gladiator is the Ideal frame for it, but as has also been discussed - you can only have one Demolisher , and this forces a choice between 1 extra damage, or 2 Extra damage to hull zones, which adds up faster when your enemy is also expecting to try to burn a Redirect token...

Yeah. You were. Deal with it.

Screed only guarantees one per turn, and that guarantee can be pretty shaky, especially with Mon Mothma on the field.
Two is very far from a guarantee.
If APT has advantage over ACM it's the lower cost. Cheap is good. Very good.
I like that this gives the rebels something DIFFERENT, something with different tactical applications. Rather than "line up and circle the wagons, keep at range", a very boring playstyle IMO, this gives players who prefer to get up close and personal a way to do so.
This will also be incredibly annoying with Dodonna. Face-up card! Let me see....how about all your shields are gone! Now your ship is just stripped bare for the follow-up attacks.

Keep in mind it's not just Rebels, but it's a variant for a Screedathon Gladiators+Raiders fleet as well. When every black crit chisels into your hull, those Rebel ships can get sad pretty quickly, and that's not even considering the possible crits flipped. It's going to be hard to give up ACMs, though...

You could already do this with Dodonna's Pride.
Not that I've sent many a good crew to their deaths trying to get it to work.....

The difference is, of course, that Dodonna's pride sacrificed all of its other damage dice to do it... (Not that there was often many more dice, but the point still stands)
Whereas APTs will, in this situation, be allowing you to pour other damage on at the same tiem.

Yeah I have to say I've never been terribly impressed with Dodonna's Pride. Sometimes everything works out fine and it's getting annoying crits through your shields but more frequently I see it attempt to do something cool and then just get swatted down with extreme prejudice. My brain periodically thinks it's very clever and files it away as "Dodonna's Folly."
I think MC30s with Ordnance Experts and APTs will get a lot more mileage for Dodonna than Dodonna's Pride.

Dodanna's Folly amuses me. I may need to print a custom card now.
APT has the same problem, but worse. Anything I really, really want to kill, I do NOT want to get to black-dice range with.
It's only saving grace is that it can be equipped to any ship, as opposed to a corvette only. My VSD are gonna enjoy the **** out of it.

Genetic engineers of the rebels are working on a general dodoriekan to please you XD
