"Non-lethal" Damage?

By Cymbel, in Dark Heresy Rules Questions

So in D&D/PF, you can take a -4 to hit someone IIRC and change your damage from lethal to non-lethal (which builds up like damage, but at the level where you would die, you pass out) and different spells can deal it as well, add in some enchantments and weapon properties and you can take someone out.

My question is, for DH 2e, what options do I have besides flailing at someone with unarmed, hope you get past their TB or just grapple them. There are shocking weapons ofc, but those can be deadly and don't ever guarantee a knockout.

There's also the Stun melee action on page 224, which you can execute either unarmed or with a melee weapon. Doesn't work against people with heavy armour on their head, but I'd say that only makes sense.

Alternatively, I'd recommend Choke grenades.

This has always been a problem in DH and other 40k RPGs!

Not a problem. You can just kick out of counsciousness someone without risking heavily to kill him,

So the options in DH are good enough.

I would say it's not as easy as in certain other games - which is what some might dislike - but that's only realistic, too.

You shouldn't expect to be able to "shoot to kill" and then suddenly switch to LTL on the last couple hitpoints expecting that your previously inflicted injuries won't matter anymore.

Though some weapons should probably have an easier time incapacitating someone. Considering how unreliable Shocking is at delivering Fatigue, you'd think the Arbites wouldn't even bother, as the survival rate of being "pacified" by a shock mace must be abysmally low.

Alas, this is a rather precarious balancing issue, for if you make Fatigue too easy, it will become the go-to method of defeating any opponent.

Thanks Lynata, I forgot about the Stun action.

drugs, snare and hallucinogenic weapons are good options too. Bleeder rounds can be very usefull too.
