I know a lot of people find games on OCTGN on nights when their normal crew isn't together and I've set it all up for GOT. I'm having difficulty finding games though. Do I just start one myself and wait for a joiner? I'm a little apprehensive because I don't know the controls terribly well.

One of the easier ways, if you're hesitant, is to ask around in the agot skype group. That way, you can make it clear you're newer, and maybe even play while voice chatting to speed up the process.
