RED ("ROGUE") SQUADRON
I love you build. I'll try it this week. I prefer Poe version.
Don't you think is it difficult to remove stress token from Biggs after he used Experimental Interface?
I don't think its the best way to go for Wedge, Luke, Biggs. The whole point of Biggs is to allow your other ships to maximize their damage output while he's alive.
This one is better, imho, because Wedge and Luke can dish out about as much pain as is possible for a trio of x-wings:
Biggs w/ 1 point astromech + integrated astro = 26
Luke w/ predator, R5-P9 & integrated astro = 34
Wedge w/ predator, R2-D2, integrated astro & proton torpedo = 40
100
Proton torpedo on predator Wedge is actually quite good (normally ordnance can be meh, but not in this case). Backed up by predator Luke and then Biggs, killing 1 generic ship (before it shoots) per turn is quite possible. And that is a much better strategy for keeping Biggs alive than using R2-F2 & experimental interface (because the less enemy ships shooting at him, the less damage he takes).
Integrated Astro is going to bring back the 3 Amigos. Too bad you have to buy 3 **** T-70s to get 3 of them.
Edited by Jo Jo--> difficult to remove stress token from Biggs
Yes, agreed, at some point Biggs needs to make a k-turn (or similar) which means forgoing R2-F2 for a turn, which can leave him exposed briefly.
--> allow your other ships to maximize their damage
ok, point taken. I've found with careful play though Biggs stays alive even, or way longer than thought possible, and your opponent is forced to keep shooting at Biggs, which essentially gives Luke much more time to deal damage.
--> Integrated Astro
right. I haven't tried that one yet. Good idea. Integrated Astro will change the game a bit by the looks of things.
--> Wedge + proton torpedo
I'll give that a try.
--> I prefer Poe version
yeah, I suspect the Poe version might be better, though I like the original flavor of the "3 Amigos" and Luke with Predator can deal more immediate damage than Poe.
Also, the Poe build still has a point spare with an elite upgrade spot for Poe! So Poe could also take Draw Their Fire, or Veteran Instincts, or Adrenaline Rush, or similar!
Thank you for the suggestions. I'm glad I posted this list rather than keeping it to myself.
Here is a revised Poe build.
RED ("SAVE BIGGS") SQUADRON
X-Wing Biggs Darklighter 25 pts
Overall I find Biggs can shrug off a remarkable and *unexpected* amount of damage with R2-F2 & Experimental Interface, particularly if Wedge and/or Poe protect him with Draw Their Fire. It's worth trying this "Save Biggs" list in practice just to see it take effect.

Unfortunately you can't take Experimental Interface AND integrated astromech since they both occupy the Modification slot
I have used Biggs w/ R2-F2 + experimental interface. More than once, in fact. And if you roll well, yes, he can 'get lucky' and stick around longer than expected, but that doesn't mean its necessarily good. That just means you got lucky. The opposite can happen too: if you blank out on all those greens, then you feel like the 6 points you spent for +1 green die feels less worthwhile (and that WILL happen sometimes).
Now don't get me wrong, I don't think its a terrible idea, but the 6 points you spend on protecting Biggs is an opportunity cost that can make a big difference in terms of added firepower to the list. And if you increase firepower, you also increase Biggs survivability because killing enemy ships faster means less shots coming at Biggs, so he can potentially last as long as the R2-F2+EI version...
Admittedly its a case of 'more than one way to skin a cat', so its not like R2-F2 + EI is 'wrong'. For me, I've tried both ways and find added firepower works better.
I can't wait to run my Wedge Luke Biggs list though once integrated astromech is out. I think it would be hilarious if that trio managed to win a tournament in the current meta
(even a small one)
> can't take Experimental Interface AND integrated astromech
Ah! good point. thanks.
> if you blank out ... 6 points you spent for +1 green die
Yeah, we've all had the blanks roll. It's part of the game though, particularly for the Imperial player. Flying Biggs right is like flying a Tie Interceptor, take no risks.
> R2-F2+EI version
Am I missing something? To me R2-F2 is only worth taking if you have the extra focus. You need to play Biggs like you're flying a Tie Interceptor, always saving your focus to doge attacks if you're in arc. Without access to the focus (from Experimental Interface or similar) R2-F2 seems no longer worth bothering with? Previously I've tried taking Garven Dreis or Kyle Katarn (HWK-290) specifically to try to get additional focus for Biggs but Kyle and Garven aren't effective enough fighters.
> can't wait to run my Wedge Luke Biggs list ... once integrated astromech is out.
yep.
Edited by rlowkeFor the Poe version, I swapped in BB-8 instead of R5-P9 and it leaves you two points for wingman to clear Biggs' stress every turn. So 4 green dice every time is pretty sweet as long as you fly these guys close, plus you can make them shoot range 3 or through a rock. This is an interesting list I want to try to see if it can bring the x-wing back
Interesting, having both Wedge and Poe both with "Draw Their Fire" works well, regardless of Biggs (or rather, once Biggs is dead).
Your opponent usually needs to concentrate fire on one or the other. If they can take critical for each other it distributes the damage between the two regards of which one is "chosen" as a target. Very interesting side effect. Not what I was intending but turns out it works pretty well.
> leaves you two points for wingman
Yes, Wingman! Good idea. I can't believe I overlooked that. Wingman might be a good solution, thank you.
