So I'm looking at putting autothrusters on my brobots but I just cannot see how useful they will be. Can some one explain to me how they work and why they work on the brobots.

Their first and foremost use is against turrets. Before wave 7 defensive large-based turrets were all the rage and autothrustors means you get an automatic evade every time you're shot at whilst out of their arc. Their usefulness continues in this era of TLT Y-Wings.

Their second use is that most IG lists use IG-88B, and therefore they also use cannons. Being a secondary weapon, at range 3 you can roll an extra defense die whereas your opponent cannot, which synergizes well with autothrustors as at range 3 you can turn a blank intoan evade whether you're in arc or not.

Of course this all depends on your flying, so if you use a cannon and autothrustors you should make long sweeping movements and only try to trade shots at range 3, while your opponent will be aiming to get you up close where your cannon and thrustors give no advantage.

At range three your gonna take less damage, and against TLT that average 1-2 hits at most having a blank become an evade will greatly reduce the threat they pose.
