Building Biggs counter to turrets.

By TylerTT, in X-Wing

Pretty sure I'd still just run him raw. Any points you put on biggs are pretty much wasted since he will literally die first every time unless something crazy happens.

If you put R2F2 on Biggs, you need to put on Experimental Interface. Makes him expensive, but it's a solid build. No IA on him, but more survivable this way.

It's not survivable enough to justify spending 31 points on him. That's no longer in "throw-away meatshield" territory, that's in "centerpiece of my list" territory. Better to invest in the guy Biggs is protecting so he can make the most of that protection while it lasts.

Biggs will die so there's no point in piling on upgrades, IA and a cheap mech is all you should give him.

All of this. You run Biggs so it takes 10 hit points (12 with IAs) to kill Wedge or Luke. I see so many builds where people are using Garvin or Cracken or Katarn to give Biggs extra tokens but you have to ask, "Are they there to protect Biggs or is it the other way around?"

Best bet is R2 or R5 with IA for 26 points. If you have a point to spare, then maybe R2-D6 and a discard EPT like Crackshot.

I need a B-wing pilot with a reverse-Xizor ability. Then my Biggs will be fully prepared.

With the extra two points you could give Biggs a cheap astro and IA. Thanks to (crew) Jan and Garven, Biggs will have a focus and an evade every round.

I won a local tournament (about a year ago) with this list. The meta has changed since I last flew this list, but Biggs would still be a bear if flown correctly.

Nice list - tried this a few times myself in casual games and have never lost with it.

R2D6 + Determination + IA looks promising on Biggs - alternatively you could go with an R5 and IA on both xwings for added durability

R2-F2 and Stealth device. 4 evade every round until the SD goes down, then 3 dice.

Intergrated Astromech for one more hull at no cost will only make Biggs more effective.

Unfortunately, stealth device and integrated are both modifications, only one allowed :(

Here's how I've been running Biggs: as the linchpin of a 4X squad designed to make the most of Integrated Astromech.

Biggs and the Rookies are kept simple with R2s and IA. Porkins uses DTF to eat crits into his shield which he regen using R5-P9 (obviously not an issue for TLT spam but this list is meant as a take all comers and there are certainly turrets out there that deliver crits!). Every turn that Biggs survives past the first is pure gravy, and the firepower of four X-Wings is pretty legit against an ungainly target like a Y-Wing.

AFAIK this is the only way to get an X-Wing pilot with EPT (for DTF), Biggs, and two Rookies, and still have enough points left over so that everyone gets IA.

I have been running a regeneration squad with biggs, wedge, and poe recently at the house by using draw their fire. Works really well in most cases, but would not be the same against TLT as you can only move critical hits with DTF, and TLT will never crit. However, it may still work ok, as biggs will give you time to kill one of the Ys before he blows up. This would make it 3Ys vs a regen Wedge and a regen Poe, and I'm pretty sure they could win it if flown smartly.

R2-D2 works well in most situations. Maybe even a shield/hull upgrade depending on what your running.

R5 + Integrated Astromech gives you a 1 point conditional Shield Upgrade.
