Super Dash + Etahn Abaht

By USCGrad90, in X-Wing Squad Lists

So I have been experimenting with Dash builds and played with typical Corran Horn (VI+FCS+R2D2) and have done pretty well, but I substituted Etahn and got some good results:

Dash+PTL+EU+Outrider+HLC+KyleKatarn (58)

Etahn+PTL+R2D2+FCS (41)

I am thinking of trying VI+Advanced Sensors instead of PTL, but I kind of like having the extra action on the Ewing.

The abilitY to Target Lock and focus both of them makes for a high percentage of hits and crits.

E'tahn can't equip autos...did you mean fcs?

Seems like kind of a sweet idea. I still surprise guys in my (admittedly small and inexperienced meta) when Dash gets to keep crits from TL re-rolls when using his HLC. I'm not positive about the order of operations, but it seems like E'tahn would let Dash turn an HLC hit into a crit as well, right? If E'tahn is flown skillfully enough to make this happen a few times in a game, it might be a net gain over Corran's double tap...

Oops. Yep. Not sure why I listed AT.

Yes. Etahn changes a hit to crit after HLC changes are resolved AND Etahn changes one of his own hits to a crit. In a good round, you can strip the shields and put a crit or two on a Ywing or other ship with a few shields.

Played a game tonight with Super Dash and kind of a hybrid of your two E'tahn builds: Lone Wolf, Adv. Sensors and R2D2. You're totally right about the above, as a target lock + focus and E'tahn allowed Dash to score two hits and two crits (Direct Hits) on Deathrain. E'tahn did the rest. Obviously there was still some serious luck involved, but I'm a believer!

I usually fly a slimmed-down Dash with a pair of Blues so I really don't have enough experience to claim that E'tahn is strictly better than Corran, but it sure is fun to fly this way! Will definitely fly the list again - good work, man.

Oh man this has given me an evil idea. So evil, it should be an imperial list. This might be nasty enough to get me to run Dash more often:

'standard' Dash 58 (HLC, outrider, PTL, kyle + engine)

E'tahn w/ Juke, sensor jammer and R2D2 = 42

100

Good luck killing E'tahn! And juke means his crit has a decent chance of getting through green dice. With Dash firing first (and critting), who do you go after first?

Juke + SJ are a rotten combo :P

Juke comes out with Tie/fo exapansion right?

Correct. So not something you can take yet, unless your play group allows proxying (they may not after springing something like that on them!)

Dudes...

I can't wait to fly this.

This is why I wade through the trolls, clickbait, and pedantic rules-lawyering on these forums. Here we've achieved actual collaboration to take an exciting list idea (thanks OP) and give it a slight tweak that has me pumped for the new expansions all over again. Props, gentlemen.
