Unnatural characteristics

By MrSmee, in Dark Heresy Rules Questions

Hi, can anyone help me please with the effect of unnatural characteristics? I understand that they increase the characteristic bonus, but this seems a bit odd to me. For example unnatural agility increases movement speed, but not the ability to dodge? Doing it like this doesn't seem to make a lot of sense for some characteristics. When for example would unnatural intelligence or willpower be of use?

Why not just treat the characteristic as 10 higher? In most situations.

I feel like I might be doing it wrong or missing something.

Thanks

Smee

Unnatural Ag increases the ability to dodge - by increasing yor AgBonus, you can dodge blast weapons previously undodgable, and also gives you automatic successes for the purpose of dodging multiple attacks.

The same goes for unnatural int - gives more DoS, or increases int bonus for combat formation talent - so you have higher initiative.

Unnatural WP gives you DoS for opposed WP checks, so it's easier to effect people. Also if there are variables on WPB, they will also increase (such as range or damage of PP). Additional DoS, will give you more hits on Psychic Barrage or Storms powers, cos they work just like semi-. full- auto. Unnatural WP is generally pretty OP.

No, you add half (rounded up) your unnatural characteristic bonus to the degrees of success you got, so a dodge with unnatural agility one would add one degreee of success to your dodge test, which is better again automatic weapons. We do not speak about autosuccesses here

Unnatural intelligence is great for medicae as first aid heals based on intelligence bonus + degrees of success.

Ah I was missing the bonus to DoS. Thank you guys, that makes it much more useful!

My pleasure! ;)

Yeah right, that was a quick thought. Bonus DoS, when you succeed.
