Yesterday we fought a 600 pts Epic, and my co fielded 12 TIE. The Rebelion choose some Z 95 loaded with Assault Misiles. "No problem, pal. I am not bunched"... Wrong.

One Tie received the first one. 3 more TIE were inside range 1. Just one or two milimeters... But inside. Just a couple of milimeters, and damaged. Later it was funny...not then.

Gotta love/hate it when that happens.

With all things like this, you can laugh about it later.

Considering the size of the play area and the amount of maneuvering around that happens, it's simply amazing how many times things get down to mere millimetres for measuring. The number of times my opponent's shots are just in a range band by millimetres is directly proportionate to the number of time my shots are just out. That's just the way it goes.

Yeah those moments are rarely savoured at the time. Something to muse about over a beer later though.

Happens all the time when manuevering. The amount of times I've said "you'll never make it" then you couldn't fit a hair in the gap between two bases, but the gap's there...

....just another thing to love about the game, in my opinion!

When you just squeek past an asteroid to come up behind that enemy ship, those are the moments you live for.

When you fire an assault missile and actually do hit a bunch of ships, that's worth a beer.

Then say "i could have got a bus through there" (or x-wing equivalent).

"I could have flown a Luminous Space Manatee through there..."

"Sideways".

"I could have barrel rolled a Trandoshan Wookiee Pelt Extractor through that gap"

Likewise, when your opponent is just a few millimeters short of range 3: "would it help if I got out and pushed?"

This last week, when teaching my friend K:

*I proceed to maneuver Jake's front corner barely onto an asteroid*

K: You barely kissed that one!

Me: *swears* I'd rather kiss a Wookie.

K: I can arrange that. You could USE a good kiss.

*... and promptly gunned him down with the TIE/fo's chasing him*

... he catches on quick.

I have somehow attained the reputation of flying TIE Bombers within millimiters of asteroids

The amount of times everyone expected me to land on one, including myself.

Only to be able to place the TIE just within a slight inclination in the asteroids shape

If you fly Tie Bombers, you are my Man.
