Bunch of questions

By Ascent, in Descent: Journeys in the Dark

Hi all,

Bought the game last weekend.

So its the german version excuse translation failures.

Me and a friend (2 Players) played "First Blood" and "Distressed Cardinal".

It seems that the rules are not fully coherent in some occasions.

So here my questions:

1) If you play an act with 2 scenes, do the heroes and OL keep their cards and current health (from scene 1) when going to scene 2 ?

Or are they reset to full health ?

2) Especially in the game with 2 heroes, it oftten occurs that both heroes are down and so, the only action they can take is revive. Therefore they can not take any further actions in this turn. So, once this happens, it is likely that the OL will crush them again and again. Is that supposed to be like that ?

3) If a hero revives a slaughtered hero, can the revived hero take actions in that turn ?

4) Why 4 markers for any hero ? Cant imagine any situation, where you need this many markers.

Thanks for your answers.

1) When a quest has multiple encounters (scenes as you put it), the following occurs BETWEEN encounter

1 and 2:

- Heroes that are knocked out get a free stand up

- Heroes get all fatigue back

- Heroes keep all damage and conditions

- Heroes get Heroic Feats back

- Allies get all health back

- Overlord keeps his hand of cards

2) When heroes are knocked out (down) they can do one of two things:

- Stand up on their own (and that is the only action they can take)

- Be revived by another hero, and then they can take their own 2 actions that same turn

- While it can be very difficult for the heroes in a 2 hero game if they are both knocked down on the

same Overlord turn, it shouldn't happen all that often. And even if it does, usually the Overlord

should be pursuing his win goals which does not usually involve constantly knocking down the

heroes. But yes, the Overlord can attempt to keep knocking them both down. Usually, though, if

the heroes can get 4-6 health points back on the stand up, the Overlord usually does not have

enough monsters in a 2 hero game to be able to knock both heroes back down.

3) If Hero A revives Hero B, then Hero B can take 2 actions on that same turn.

4) Hero markers are used in multiple ways. Technically, by RAW, you assign one to each hero (by placing

it on/near their hero cards). The second can be used to place on the board to show where a knocked out

hero comes back. As for the third and fourth hero markers of the same color, there are many class

cards, Overlord cards, quest rules, etc. that often make use of them.

I hope this helps.

Thank you very much.

There is a pinned topic, at the top of the forum, called Index of Useful Links ( https://community.fantasyflightgames.com/topic/180455-index-of-useful-links/ ).

Inside that post, under the section Community Tools & Game Aids, is a document link called: Descent 2nd Edition Campaign Flow. It is a word document which details all of the steps involved during a campaign. I created this tool as a reminder crutch due to my failing memory. All of the information contained in the document can be found in the rule book, but this way it is located all in one place, and it also includes various clarifications made by Zaltyre and FFG personnel that are not necessarily found in the rules or the FAQ.

Again, thank you. :)
