Took part in a standard 100 point tournament in Milton Keynes yesterday. There was 31 players who attended.

My List:

Guri - StarViper - Predator, Sensor Jammer, Autothrusters and Virago (40)

Cartel Marauder - Kihraxz (20) x

I spent over a week going between various lists. An ABBA list, 5 Kihraxz's, T-70 list and the one I finally picked.

The idea was that Guri would be a tricky target with SJ and AT. Plus with Predator put some hurt in too. The kihrazx are there because mainly they look awesome and can chuck out some good damage.

Game 1 vs 3 Kihraxz & 2 Scyks with Mangler

Both me and my opponent knew that this was going to be a very brutal game. Lots of red dice, mainly PS2. My opponent won initiative which could have been vital, shooting and moving first. He set up on my right, whilst I was in the middle, Guri a bit further to the left. We then turned into each other and at range 3 he took some shots at Guri who returned it back, neither of us doing much damage. The following turn is where the brutal close range fight took place. Guri had slooped towards his table edge out of his ships arcs, but with them in Guri's. All the other ships were head on to each other. Once the dust had settled, I was down a Kihraxz, whilst my opponent had lost all his Kihraxz's. The following turns was spent chasing down his 2 Scyks. This was a great game. Very short, but that one round of combat was brutal, 4 out of the 9 ships went down. Also the paint scheme on my opponents ships was fantastic.

Game 2 vs Whisper, Soontir & Mauler

I'd previously played Dean at a store championship earlier in the year. It had ended in a draw, after a very tense game. The game started by Guri being shot by Mauler at range 1 and Soontir at range 2, suffering heavy damage, but surviving just about. Both Mauler and Soontir had Stealth Devices so we're very tough to damage, but I eventually dropped Mauler in exchange for Guri. This left my 3 Kihraxz's against Whisper and Soontir, it didn't look too great for me at this point. However I managed to get Soontir to bump, which allowed me to kill him. Whisper then decided to never throw more than 2 hits when shooting me, even at range 1. Whisper eventually clipped an asteroid and couldn't cloak. Unfortunately he was in the arc of all 3 Kihraxz's and they all combined to take him down. This was another great game, very fun and could have swung either way at points. I'm sure Dean will want revenge the next time we meet!

Game 3 vs Dash & Corran

I had played Luke once before and suffered a defeat. Could I avenge it? This was a short game, the one defining moment came when I scored 3 crit's and a hit on Corran, who then proceeded to roll all blanks. The crit then turned out to be double damage and Corran was vapourised. The following turns was a case of hunting down Dash to gain my first ever 100-0 victory at a tournament. I think if Corran hadn't been so unlucky then it would have been a different outcome.

Game 4 vs Kavil, Mux, TLT Y-Wing & Z-95

This was a interesting game, having to face TLT's and PS reductions. Guri was heavily wounded at range 1 by Kavil, whilst also being double stressed by the TLT Y-Wing. Kavil was taken out the following turn, followed by the HWK. I lost a Kihraxz and took out his Z-95. The lone Y-Wing was then chased down and destroyed.

So 4-0 and currently at the top of the standings. I'd never won 4 games at a tournament before. My best was 3-0 in a small 8 player tournament before losing the final 100-0. Could I go one better?

Game 5 vs Vader, Soontir & Jax

As it turns out, no I couldn't! I let Guri go solo against Vader, which didn't end well for her. From there my opponent Mike flew extremely well, dodging arcs, getting close range shots. 3 Kihraxz's against Vader, Soontir and Jax would only end one way. I did manage to remove Jax, but that was the best I could do. The Kihraxz's were then wiped out.

Lost 31-100

So in the end I managed to finish in 3rd place. This was definitely my best tournament performance so far. Won a 3rd place trophy, alt art Ten Numb (I love my B-Wings) and a r2d2 tin.

There was a great variety in the lists. I saw a triple StarViper squad! Not many TLT's either. Don't recall seeing any Decimator's tho.

1st - Vader, Soontir & Carno Jax

2nd - Whisper, Vader, Shuttle (Palpatine)

3rd - (Me) Guri, 3 Kihraxz's

Guri performed very well. Predator helping with her offence. Autothrusters making her very tough to hit. Sensor Jammer seemed ok, it helped with the few TLT's I faced, but could possibly use the points to upgrade a Kihraxz to PS5?

The Kihraxz's were my star ships. Chucking out a tonne of damage and managing to survive a hell of lot of attacks. There green duce were very impressive. Plus they just look awesome on the table!

Can't wait for the next tournament now!
