Juno Movement Change ability

By StuManChu, in X-Wing

With Juno's ability to adjust her speed during the movement phase, can you use the movement templates to see where she would end up prior to moving her, or do you need to declare the change in speed prior to moving and make the move. I've always made the declaration of what he change is and moved without checking, but have been curious of I could or not. Thanks.

As a general rule in X wing any time you lay down a movement template you are locked into using it.

Yeah you have to eyeball it and if you guess wrong live with it.

Picking the right move is where individual skill comes in, checking would really detract from that.

You get to change the speed, nothing more.

Everything else follows the normal rules for movement.

It works as you can stop her from getting blocked or if you need to you can speed up a green maneuver. But yes you can't change templates once you put one down on a maneuver. The same goes for Stay on target. You have to rotate your dial before you place a maneuver template.

You reveal your dial, then decide if you want to change speeds, and then grab the appropriate template and that one only. If you could pre-measure with her, then you'd be able to pre-measure everyone. And that's simply not allowed, so she's no different in that respect to any other pilot. No pre-measuring with anyone.

So.... VI or PTL? Or something else? Predator?

For me, she's an ace hunter, so VI, and prockets if you can afford them. She's a really great ship for 30pts without em though!

ATC really wants PTL and Juno has more than enough green to get alot out of that action economy.

I have never felt the need for PTL on her with that dial. I use VI and PRockets.

^ and ATC

PTL for her with ATC - and as a modification go with the Twin Ion Engine so she has a buttload of green to clear that stress. it works extremely well with her ability.

If you have the points, PtL/Predator + Engine. If not, VI.

@OP: same goes for boost and barrel roll, at least in competitive play. Once you set the template down, you're locked in (unless you can't fit).

Ive always wanted to try her with Stay on target, mainly because i've never used it, but partially because i think it would be hilarious

however that would lead to her having doo doo action economy...

Maybe once XX-23's come out i'll run her with it

Thanks for the feedback. I'm running her with PTL and ATC. Matched up with Vader and a Defender. It's been a blast to fly.

Stay on Target, anyone? Select any 2 maneuver, complete any 1,2 or 3 maneuver (possibly as a Red maneuver).

I've used PTL, and it's good, very good. I typically run her with Zertik Strom (because I love his ability to boost a squad defensively), and when I run Strom, he runs VI so that the two can fire at Initiative 8.

I was going to recommend this.

It makes her the most effective PS 8 arc-dodger in the game on an individual-turn basis, and she's got the greens to support it too, thanks to her ability.

I prefer PTL, as I do with all ATC users.

Just a jump on question. With her ability change the color of the the maneuver. For example if she reveals a green and the speed change changes it to a red is it red of green?

I can answer that one, and ask another related.

"You do what the card says, not what it doesn't say."

In your example, changing the range does not change the nature of the original maneuver chosen. The card instructs you to increase or decrease the range as desired, and only that. Red remains red. Green remains green.

My related question:

The card does not require Eclipse to perform only maneuvers on the TIE Advanced dial.

So I presume Eclipse can choose a 2-Right turn and change it to a 1-Right turn (without penalty).

Similarly, a 4-K-turn can be either a 3-K, or a 5-K.

Am I correct?

However, she cannot perform maneuvers that do not exist, such as a 4-turn or 4-bank or 6-straight.

You are correct, in that her maneuvers are not limited to her dial.

That makes her stupidly mobile.

Again, with Stay on Target, she has the ability to switch decisions from a 1 left turn to a 3 right turn (if you had selected a 2 maneuver of any variety).

Anyone who isn't PS 9 will have trouble with that, I assure you.

The amount of times I have looked for the Hard 1 turn on Vader's dial... makes Juno a real treat to fly.

It's too bad the Advanced doesn't have Straight 1 on it's dial, cause then she could do 0 Stops.

Nope, literally says to a minimum of 1 on her card.
