Worlds List

By zhentil, in Star Wars: Imperial Assault

Anyone have any info on the top 16 lists.

Apparently the finals is 4 guards 4 officers vs 4 guards 4 officers ....

lame

Yeah, the meta is not in a good place. I know there were a bunch of Blast lists but I don't know exactly who played what. I played Martin, and he's very good. I think he earned it.

Anyone know how many players there were?

Anyone know how many players there were?

80.

Here's a list of the top 16 players, if we could fill in the lists that'd be great to see. Doesn't seem 100% accurate though as it has Martin listed as a Rebel player.

Good to see mercs representing.

I heard final table was 4x4 vs. 4x4?

By the way: Congratulations to Martin "xarathornx" Hoffmann, German and World Champion!

There had to have been more than 80 participants, there were three or four sheets with the final standings on them, although I only have a pic of the first sheet, and it has the top 38 players listed.

Yeah, that was the finals...the semis were both 4x4 vs Rebel blast.

I played Grant McKinney. He was running Chewbacca, Han, Jyn, Gideon, and C-3PO. Pretty sure that's the guy. ;)

Good to see mercs representing.

I was running mercs. I think I saw at least 3 other merc lists. yep.

While a 4x4 vs 4x4 finals looks bad, I would be interested to see the data from the whole event on how 4x4 did vs the field. Seems like the final 4 was each 4x4 vs Rebels. Maybe the gap isn't a wide as it seems to be.

And I wonder if the 2 rebel list had won the semi-finals if we would be talking about how broken rebel sabs are and that they need to be nerfed.

I am about to go into a meeting, but my three losses were to Jonathan (I got destroyed), Julian (10-9), and Neil (24-22)...I can take a minute when I am done and post.

EDIT:

Back from my meeting.

Neil (14) ran: Gideon, Luke, R2D2, C3P0, Elite Sabs, and three regular Sabs.

Jonathan (2) ran: Two regular Royal Guards, two elite E-Web Engineers, four regular Imperial Officers.

Julian (10) ran: Gideon, C3P0, Jyn Odan, two elite Rebel Sabs, and three regular Regular Sabs.

I am totally positive on the first two, although I'm pretty sure on Julian's list, as it's 39 points and I know he took initiative. That game is still a bit of a blur, as it was basically a stalemate and it was literally decided on the last roll of the game, where I couldn't put enough damage on Gideon to take the win. We both knew that the winner of the game was (most likely) going to make the top 16, and based on my SOS, it looks like if the 10-9 game had gone the other way I would have been sitting at 15.

With out going into too much detail, as I will probably post later, I had a great time and it was awesome to get some games in, as there are very few people in Atlanta that play skirmish. I really hadn't played a game of skirmish since GenCon, and another Atlanta player and I finally got to go through the new map Friday evening, before the tournament. We both learned a lot, as there were some rules clarifications we didn't know, one actually being important in my 7th game against Julian (Urgency movement points all having to be used when you activate the special movement). I totally have a positive experience, and hope to see the same guys again.

Anytime you want games in Atlanta, just drop me a line. :) I can't play enough, lol.

I recall looking through the top tables and seeing nothing really but Royal Guards and Saboteurs. And then through the bottom tables and that's where everything else was.

In the top 16, I know that I saw a rebel list with Luke and 2 Elite Rebel troopers, but didn't see all of it or who ran it. There were also 2 RGC squads, which were Micheal and Philip, both were defeated by Tony. The unlisted ones that I know for sure are:

Ben was running:

Jyn, Gideon,C-3p0, 2x Elite Sabs, 3X Regular Sabs @ 39pts

Julian was running

Jyn, Gideon,C-3p0, 2x Elite Sabs, 3X Regular Sabs and Balance of the Force @ 40pts.

Tony was running:

Gideon,C-3p0, 2x Elite Sabs, 4X Regular Sabs @ 39pts

Brian was running:

4 Heavy Stormtroopers, 1 Royal guard, 4 Officers.

Tantive4 was almost right with Julian's squad but it definitely had 40pts. And that Urgency ruling surprised more than a few people there, including me. Thankfully my opponent asked me if I was sure that I didn't want to use all of the points and I asked for clarification. Another ruling that happened was that the "Bodyguard" card negates the "Element of Surprise" card because it is a different target. Which could also means it could negate Jyn's "One in a Million" card. It definitely had a big impact in Ben and Paul's game.

I have to say that all of my games up there were fun and that my opponents were great people who were having fun and played in a good natured way: pointing out errors, shaking hands, wishing luck, and laughing despite errors and 'X's. There were quite a few Luke, Gideon,Droid(s) and sabs lists, more than 4x4s I think. Apparently there was a fun game between 2 Hired guns lists where they blew each other into oblivion in one round as the hired guns kept one shotting each other, unfortunately I missed that one.

Congrats to the Phoenix company guys for getting 3 people into the Top 8.

Edit:Silly grammar

Yeah, the Phoenix guys are awesome, we had some great conversations with Julian and Ben. The Bodyguard ruling was interesting, as we had never seen it come up until watching Paul and Ben's game in the semis. We were talking amongst ourselves during it, wondering If it had to be a "valid" target, not realizing it was an elite Sab that was attacking, so with priority target it didn't matter in that situation.

I didn't take notes, so I have been trying to remember from memory, but I did notice Neil was taking pretty good notes in each match, and is probably something I should start doing myself.

The first round of the day I played a Hired Gun list that consisted of Boba Fett with Explosive Armaments, five regular Hired Guns with Last Resort, and one elite Hired Gun. It was surprisingly difficult to pin down and was annoying, as they always seemed to get the surge for pierce one, not to mention Parting Shot...I think he got Last Resort off once and rolled three hits.

Overall it was a great tournament and was way better than GenCon, and for the most part, everyone was social and congenial. In the fourth round my buddy played the Spanish National Champ and I played one of his buddies from Madrid, to our surprise they gave both of us copies of the Trandoshan Hunters and AT-ST promos en Español. Awesome gesture.

Yes, the Element of Surprise - Bodyguard ruling came as a surprise when I was on the bad end of it in an earlier game (when it gave back a die to my opponent), and it makes Bodyguard somehow even better. It's the best card in the game, IMO!

John K-B was running 2 Guard, 2 Elite EWeb, 4 Officer. Andy was running 4x4 too.

Oh, and Ira was the top Scum list, at 20th place. He was Boba, 2 Elite Sabs (best Merc unit), Alliance to play the Sabs, and then filled out the list with Hired Guns.

I don't think bodyguard would stop Jyn's One in a Million, mainly because the guardian could not be a legal target for the attack.

Body Guard:

Use when an attack targeting an adjacent friendly figure is declared. If you could be the target of that attack, the attack targets your instead.

Jyn Odan

Hair Trigger: At the start of a hostile figure’s activation, you may interrupt to perform an attack that targets that figure. Limit once per round.

Unless there is a way to activate multiple figures at once, there can only be one legal target for Jyn's Hair Trigger.

I have missed the urgency ruling, what was it?
