Jake and Kyle sync question

By J Viz, in X-Wing Rules Questions

HI guys

Just want to check how this would work.

Lets say Jake focuses and boosts as a free action. At the start of the combat phase Kyle gives him another focus token, can he then boost again as the other boost was only a free action?

And just to go over the top could he then boost with PTL? Or would the free boost with the first focus count as an action meaning that the second free action from a focus would have to be a barrel roll.

Apologies if that does't make much sense but i'm sure it must have come up before

Thanks

No - you cannot perform the same action twice in a turn, even if one of the actions was a free action.

You can trigger Jake's ability more than once but you must choose an action he has not already taken - so if he has already boosted you must barrel roll, or vice versa.

Push The Limit triggers off any action - so you can use Jake's ability to trigger PTL - but only once per round, and you can't perform any action that you have already performed that turn.

Jake + Kyle lets you Boost and Barrel-Roll, with one of them being in combat, so it's a good combo.

But you can't boost multiple times in a round, no.

I thought that was probably the case, thanks guys

There's nothing special about Free Actions. Free Actions are just actions that you are able to take outside of your Perform Action step. All rules about performing actions apply to Free Actions.

Free Actions do have a couple of additional restrictions. Huge ships can't get them and a SLAM can't be done as a Free Action.
