dual TLT with YT-666

By Bahoola, in X-Wing Squad Lists

It’s a quit few threads about duel TLT + Aggressor. But I’m wondering if anyone have tried dual TLT with YT-666. Maybe get some points over for a Z95 blocker. And to give the Y-wing a bit more staying power build the ship with Tactical Jammer.

Thoughts? Do you think this will be valid, and were do one start to explore this. All ship on PS2 or a mean Bossk build?

Something like this. But I haven’t toyed or played against the YT-666, so I have no idée of where to start.

Syndicate Thug (25) x 2
Y-Wing (18), Twin Laser Turret (6), Unhinged Astromech (1)

Binayre Pirate (14)
Z-95 Headhunter (12), Dead Man's Switch (2)

Trandoshan Slaver (36)
YV-666 (29), Greedo (1), K4 Security Droid (3), Glitterstim (2), Tactical Jammer (1)

I would stick with using Bossk or Moralo. I have played with Bossk and being able to change a crit after it hits to 2 hits can really speed things up. Running a Mangler or HLC through 180 degree arc is also very nice, so that is why there are people that run with Moralo instead. I have been thinking of pairing Moralo with a IG-88B for some large ship fun. The VY-666 has a dial that definitely takes some getting used to. I miscalculated after getting stressed and fly it off the board, the first time I played with it. That definitely cost me the game.

I've seen one tlt + aggressor thread :P

Anyway, I wasn't super impressed playing against one such list a few times. The yv is just too stiff to play bodyguard; it's gun platform just like the tlts and it likeshl having guards of its own

IMO, you'd be better off with kath, boba, or Guri

Also, the YV-666 dies faster than an aggressor. While there is something to be said for having your opponent focus on a high hull/shield target while the twin lasers plink away, even if you trade the YV-666 for an equivalent number of points in the opponent's list, you might still be at a disadvantage depending on what is left (a high PS ace for example can solo those 2 y-wings no prob).

Okay! Wait, wait. Listen. Just listen.

If you want to build a list around Tactical Jammer, this could be The One

Omicron Group Pilot (22) x 2
Lambda-Class Shuttle (21), Tactical Jammer (1)

“Howlrunner” (20)
TIE Fighter (18), Wingman (2)

Academy Pilot (12) x 3

Think about !

20 HP front line adding minimum one 1 Agi dice two the ships behind, some Tie’s behind to block long K-Turns, Wingman to help the surviving ship to turn faster. You most likely to move first and control LODS of “air” space, and can force the opponent to bad disengages.

Think about it…

I know the last entry was a little misplaced. And my parody on a frat boy hype obviously missed, hard ;)

Anyhow back to the main topic of this thread. The YT-666 soul reason is to draw fire until it dies. But it is as you say 2 TLT’s might have a hard time closing the deal. And that makes this list dramatist less desirable.

the '666 with Tactical Jammer sounds like a good theory as it covers the two largest weaknesses of the 2xTLT, the hole and low agility value, but in practice it's probably too easy to be outmaneuvered when you're trying to keep those three slow ships lined up. I know a couple guys who run Bossk with 2xTLT Y's who win pretty consistently with it, don't remember the loadout on Bossk though.

I've said it before and I'll say it again: I do not care for running TLT Y-Wings with the YV-666. Both ships are vulnerable to high agility, autothruster-equipped enemies. The moment you run into some A-Wings, IG-2000s, or TIE Interceptors you're gonna have a bad time.

Go with Ion Ys, Bug-Zappers, or the Khiraxz. All of those should give you a more well-rounded list than the TLT with a YV.

Don't get me wrong, TLT Ys with a YV-666 can still be tough, but it's got a very glaring weakness to anything that has both consistent defense (high agility+thrusters or sensor jammer) and is quick enough to get behind the YV-666... which is basically anything that fits the other part of that.
