Pointers on Han and who to fly him with

By BCooper85, in X-Wing Squad Lists

I know it's old hat but last week I was involved in a tournament where we were only allowed to use ships from waves 1-4 so Han was an obvious choice as I only play Rebel. Below is what I went with:

Han with VI and Gunner

2 x Blue Squadron B's with FCS

Went for something simple as I have a tendency to be a forgetful so and so.

I ended up doing pretty well, winning 3 and losing 2 (the second loss being very tight) and coming 7th out of 18th (this is the same tournament my twin bro SDDC had a nightmare) so for now at least I want to stick with Han. It was the first time I used gunner and it was awesome! The first game in the first round of shooting I one-shotted a Soontir which was great.

My question is how would you improve this and do you have any tips on starting positions? The B-wings don't have to stay, I don't feel like I flew them very well and FCS wasn't as handy as I had hoped due to the ships I was facing. This could be down to practice though, maybe Adv Sensors would be better? Suggestions are very welcome.

One point to make, I don't have a 3PO card and honestly I wouldn't spend the 7 points anyway.

I think your list is strong. I haven't flown Han often (maybe twice, Chewbacca if my Falcon pilot of choice) but his ability + Gunner is consistent offensively. Maybe this variant could work:

Han (VI, Gunner, Millenium Falcon title)

Dagger (Advanced Sensors)

Green (Push the Limit, Chardaan Refit)

100 points

A bit less fire power but the A-Wing with PTL can be very helpful. Also, Advanced Sensors is awesome on B-Wings.

PS. C-3PO is worth 3 points, not 7.

I like to pair up Han or Chewie with Corran Horn.

Most of the time I find Han makes the difference over Chewie in marginal situations - the kind where a bad roll here or there can really spoil your day.

I had a lot of success with Han w/ VI, EU, MF and C3P0 but recently i've gone off 3po a bit. I find I'd rather play Han aggressively, and so I came to this idea

Han + VI + Luke + EU

Corran + PtL + R2D2

I wouldn't use it in the current meta with stressbots, generic pilots and TLTs all over the place, but in a wave4 meta I think it's fairly solid.

So what if I were to be playing in a tournament with no restrictions which is very likely to be the case from now on?

I saw that Paul Heaver has been using the stressbot to good effect, has anyone used that with Han?

Well, mainly I would drop Luke and replace him with either both a Recon Specialist and Kyle Katarn OR choose one of them and use the additional points to replace VI with Predator to make up for the lack of an gunner. Also add the MF title.

You also want a Fire Control System on Corran.

Another option is Jan Ors, who combos well with Recon Specialist.

This I think would work well.

E-Wing: · Corran Horn

Push The Limit

Fire Control System

· R2-D2

YT-1300: · Han Solo

Veteran Instincts

Engine Upgrade

Recon Specialist

· Jan Ors

In terms of alternative pairings, I think Bs are good with Accuracy Correctors instead of FCS.

2 more games with Han and the B's tonight, won one and lost the other.

I think I can get better with these 3 ships; my decision making needs to improve as does my use of the B's. Now I've played 8 games with this list(won 4 and lost 4) I think I'm going to swap out the FCS for Adv Sensors on the B's and see how that works.

Any thought on different upgrades for the Falcon?

Side note, in the last 3 games Han has picked up injured pilot twice. Twice!!
