Recommend my next buy

By spamdex, in X-Wing

Hi all, thinking of getting my first 2 big ships, 1 imperial, 1 rebel.

Which ships would you buy?

I have both core sets

2 y wing

1 x wing

1 hawk

1 headhunter

1 rebel aces

2 tie

1 bomber

1 phantom

1 advanced

1 imperial aces

Cheers

Boba. Cuz it's boba.

Yup, Boba.

For Rebel, probably the Falcon, because iconic -- though I like the YT-2400's mechanics more.

Two big ship purchases? I would go either:

Falcon and Decimator

or

Most Wanted and Firespray

Decimator is easier to fill a decent list with what you have. The firespray is cool but I don't see the list with the other stuff you have. The Shuttle is cool if you have Palpatine or multiple shuttles but honestly either of the other choices would be significantly better for you.

Rebels I would strongly recommend a regular B-wing and a K-wing because you can really fill out a list with 2 B-wings or 2 TLT Y-wings. If it had to be a big rebel ship I guess I'd say the YT-2400 because you get a lot of great upgrades (Heavy laser cannon, Lando for fun, Dash can be good, Proton Rockets, Leebo, Lone wolf and Experimental Interface. Solid solid stuff.

I don't want to start scum until I have a substantial rebel and imperial force so I won't buy most wanted yet .I've been reading the imp firespray isn't so good?

Which 2 small imp ships would you recommend? Is either 4 small or 2 big

what model tempts you the most? what looks good in your hand when making those "whooshing sounds" that of course none of us do, as we are all grown up and stuff..

yeah, that model that came to mind just now - go and get that one. and the other ones you just imagined ;-)

You are right, no point in a Firespray unless you want Most Wanted.

For value buys the Falcon is both iconic and has upgrade cards to spare for other ships. The Decimator also has a majority of a list straight out the box. Those should definitely be the next two.

If you want four small...

K-wing

Interceptor

B- wing

Whatever else

Ordered a b wing , Decimator and yt2400 just because it was cheap .

Um... Shuttle... Always

Shuttle, Decimator, and Firespray, in that order I think.

TIE Anything.

What I tell anyone when asking what they should buy next:

There are no bad choices.

Buy what appeals to you, learn how to incorporate it into lists.

In friendly games, upgrade cards are easily proxied (or better yet borrowed, creating friends).

I thought Defenders were sexy, and that maybe is my only disappointment (I bought two, and at my skill level they are very difficult to use well) but I still enjoy flying them (and did a custom paint job).

I loved the Imperial Raider and it has totally changed my game to have the TIE/x1 (granted, this is not a casual investment for a newer player).

The K-Wing has caused me to play much more Rebel than I ever have before.

I bought a Star Viper just to have Autothrusters and Accuracy Corrector even though I have no other S&V ships. But after buying it, I've borrowed S&V cards from friends and I love the Star Viper.

Every player should have two starter sets (and probably better to have one of the FA core and one of the original core) if only for dice alone and the extra ships.

It's an excellently balanced game, and you have to learn to play anything, so buy what you want to push around the table.

Decimator and Falcon

Don't forget to check what upgrades come with which ship, that may help you decide.

The Falcon and the Firespray are the only way to get one of the most powerful upgrades in the game: Veteran Instincts.

The Falcon will also give you 2 Engine Upgrades

The YT-2400 will give you Lone Wolf. It also carries a Heavy Laser Cannon, but there are other ways to get it. It also carries the Gunner crew, but the Falcon carries Luke.

On the Rebel side therefore, the Falcon. Iconic and useful upgrades.

The Imperials have the Decimator, the Shuttle and the Firespray

The Decimator has no upgrades that are very important, not when compared to the other two ships.

The Firespray has Veteran Instincts, a couple of bombs for your TIE Bombers, an HLC and two Stealth Devices which would go nicely on your Interceptors. It also has Gunner crew.

The Shuttle, not only does it have a viable build right in the box with the Doomshuttle, it also Intelligence Agent and Rebel Captive, a Heavy Laser Cannon and two very important upgrades: Advanced Sensors and Sensor Jammer. Either would go nicely with your B-Wing or your Phantom.

The Shuttle would give you the most immediate bang for your buck. After that, take the Firespray, you'll want it anyway eventually when you move into Scum and Villainy. The Decimator is the least important of the three.

I hear there's some super cool dial covers coming! Oh, and pretty bases in different colors! Very cool!

K-wing as a definite, since you already have 2 Ys.

I've been partial to Defenders, but if you go large then get a shuttle, very versatile.
