Droid Prices

By derroehre, in Star Wars: Edge of the Empire RPG

Does anybody know what the price of a Gonk is?

And so I don't simply ask one stupid question, here ist a list of all the droids in the books I own, if you have reliable data on other droids that may come up, feel free to enter it or post it in this thread, I might build a droid shoppers compendium:

I would just do a quick interpolation based on the list you have. It's not going to end the world if you fill in the blanks as you go. Just make it reasonable and consistent.

I'm away from my books but how do the prices compare between FFG's games and WotC or WEG's games for similar items? If everything in both places is 65% - 85% in one compared to the other, then you have a valuable resource! I'll check when I can if no one beats me to it.

There is also the list at http://swrpg.viluppo.net/equipment/gear/category/18/ .

Which is missing the droids of desperate allies (if somebody knows who to tell) as well as many other droids that are part of the universe but not yet in-game, like gonks or mousebots for example.

I am looking for a general list for the star wars universe, not just edge of the empire.

When in doubt on prices, I check the WEG books.... If I can't find it there, I try Wookieepedia: http://starwars.wikia.com/wiki/GNK_power_droid

According to Wookieepedia, a standard GNK droid is 60-100 credits.

   I might have tried to sell a slightly overpriced (1500) GNK droid to my players.

I started mistrusting wookiepedia on prices for use in RPG's because an astromech is listed as 4245 as compared to 8250 in the EotE rulebook.

Part of the rason for my starting this thread. What WEG books?

You could start with "Cynabar's Fantastic Technology: Droids". I'm not sure, but you might want to check the d6 holocron.

And there is the WotC Saga "Scavanger's ... Droid Guide" or something. Edit: It's "Scavenger's Guide to Droids".

It's worth noting that FFG has increased the price of droids drastically in comparison to what WotC and WEG listed for droids of a similar model.

For instance, a 3P0 protocol droid was something that a PC could possibly purchase (especially a Noble in the d20 versions) or have as starting gear (in D6) without too much trouble since it was only a couple thousand credits. But in SWFFG a general-model protocol droid (such as the one found in the EotE core rulebook) will run you several thousand credits. And the cost of an R2-series astromech in d20/d6 was around 4K credits, but again FFG has a general-model astromech cost twice that much.

It’s called inflation. A credit these days doesn’t go nearly as far as it did 38 standard years ago.

According to the online calculators I found, 4000 credits 38 years ago would have the same effective buying power as 15706 credits today.

So, yeah — there’s that. ;) ;) ;)

Interesting.... If there is demand for it, I might do up a spread sheet listing all the known (and worthwhile) items in WEG and WotC, compared with FFG, and see if there is any corrolation on price..... as someone has pointed out, if they are all within a % range of common items, you can easily extrapolate what the cost of FFGs items would be.... assuming you agree with the numbers from the older games.

You're an Astromech, Dave! It should take you only a few ms. So please, my appreciation is guaranteed!

I suppose price increases/decreases should prove consistent, at least within certain goods groups.

Ugh.... OK...

Someone needs to tell me which books have Droids in them for WEG then... ive looked at the first 3 CRBs, and the ONLY droids in common with FFG are "R2" droids, 3PO Protocol Droids and generic "Medical Droids"

I certainly dont have time to read every single WEG publication.

While I can come up with a vague idea, the more information, the more accurate it would be.... not that you need to base things on that at all.

EDIT.

OK, this is probably alot more work than it seems, and its possibly not worth it.

After a Cursory look through the WEG CRBs, and the WotC Droid book. (Saga Edition), there is very little cross over.

FFG list "Assassin Droid", while WEG list None, and WotC list two. With costs varying from 65k to 28k to 19k.

FFG prices 'Astromechs' at 8250. WEG lists 'R2s' as either 1000 or 4525 (1st and 2nd Ed)

Pilot droids... none have the same models listed, and prices vary from 15k in FFG (JC series), and WotC have 3 models, at 17k, 10k and 8k.

The variables are just too wide to really make it worth doing. Especially since you will have various models within a range that vary in price... R2s, R3s, R4s and R5s, will vary in price due to various abilities.... yet are all 'Astromechs'

The same will apply to Protocols, Labour Droids, Assassin, Pilot, Medical, Supervisor etc etc etc....

Just doesnt seem like its a productive endeavour.

Sorry :/
