Hey guys... So originally I started with Armada having more interest in fleet engagements than the dogfights but have since been roped into x-wing and have gone... A little crazy... I need to figure out how to store it all and cart it round to games... The obvious choice would be battle foam although it's a little hard to get in my area... Any ideas?
Storage issues...
Well, not knowing where your area is...
Plano boxes are quite popular
Tackle boxes are wonderful. Search for "Plano" on this forum and you should find many examples.
I would also recommend the build-it-yourself storage boxes here: http://www.sirwillibald.com/?page_id=753〈=en
They changed my life and increased my storage efficiency by 50%.
Hey sorry I probably should have stated... My area is the Hawkesbury just outside Sydney Australia... Semi-rural so it's a bit difficult to find anywhere that stocks anything decent and my FLGS is a 45 minute drive away lol
I live in Australia and Plano cases can be expensive/hard to get a hold of. Most of my friends get cheep clear plastic cases from places like Bunnings or K-mart .
This is the Plano tackle-box most recommend.
Just how crazy has your collection gotten? And how much are you willing to spend on storage?
Edited by DodtI'm from Brisbane, and have the Plano 1374. It stores quite a lot and allows me to have one tray for each faction, and the other for dials etc.
Though there are a bunch of guys that recommend the Tactix brand storage containers from Bunnings, if there are any near you.
I can second the recommendation for tactix boxes from Bunnings. They are cheap and effective. A little foam or bubble wrap on top of each compartment stops things rattling around too much.
I have a few of the Tactix cases that have the black plastic and clear lids. I've found that they tend to turn dice id store in them black tarnishing them dunno if its reacting with the plastic in the dice or just from rubbing against the plastic. Not sure if they have the same effect on miniatures but i don't use those cases anymore for my games stuff. Now they are just used for hobby tools and paints and my airbrush kit. The clear plastic cases and the Plano boxes don't seem to do this so I use them.
Edited by DodtI'm using a Stanley Fatman knockoff case from Walmart and 3D printing inserts for ships.
These Stanly cases look promising and theres a retailer close enough to my work for me to swing by and check them out...
The only issue that i have is wether or not these cases can store 60+ ships as well as 6 starters worth of tokens and whatnot...
As i said... i went a bit crazy...
I may have a problem...
I guess will have a look a bunnings tomorrow and perhaps check out Kmart tonight.
Any further suggestions and info are always appreciated.

Its actually quite scary how accurate that comic proved to be...
I suggest not storing every single token you have in the box you lug around. I now put all my new ones in zip-lock bags in a starter box.

It depends greatly on which ships. X-Wings and Z-95's probably stack the best as you can get 4 of them in one space. The YT2400 takes up 2 spaces obviously and TIE Fighters you only get 2 to a space. You can probably get 40-50 ships in once case provided you don't have a lot of large ones. If you have a ton of X-Wings it gets very space efficient. You could get 80 in one case
Well, my permanent storage got upgraded this weekend with some new cabinets. One shelf I've claimed for part of the collection (well, my wife demanded I use it).

Ha did the same thing but started with X-wing and then went crazy with Armada. So it was actually an easier move for me.

Oh I went crazy on both... Just posting this on the x wing forum so figured I'd mention mainly the x wing stuff hahaha
Go to Bunnings and have a look at the Tactix storage boxes and not to expensive.
A bit late to respond here, you may already have something going. I use a modified version of this: http://imgur.com/a/zlgTu
I use the heaviest 1/2 inch washers I could find instead of the base magnets, and it sticks to the magnets in the containers just fine. I used a different container , and I also used a larger separate container for epic. I also used some magnetic sheets I happened to have, which did not have sticky backs so I glued them in.
The regular containers fit perfectly on the larger epic container, when I need to bring that one. Note the B-Wings and Starvipers will only fit in a top section.
