We haven't seen the second card that he helped design. Today on the worlds stream they said that card is coming in Wave 8.
After making 3 cards for them, they might as well just give him a job...

Doesn't seem like something he'd do, SoT was supposed to be an interesting upgrade, not a fix for anything.
I wonder how much freedom a world's winner actually has with regard to the creation of a new card. Obviously they have input - but just as obviously, the designers are still going to design the card (and all that goes with that --including play-testing various incarnations of it) according to the way they design all the other stuff we see. I am pretty sure his input is more than merely conceptual, but at the same time, bound by other factors we can only guess at.
It'd be cool to know the process.
I do know in early MTG World's when the winner got the same thing, the first winner deliberately overpowered his card expecting them to pull it back in play testing. They did not and Spiritmonger Was born!!

Doug Kinney (the 2012 world champion) designed the Dash Rendar crew card, which led to FFG's design of the Dash pilot card. There was a news article about it here.
All I know is that EPT slot was way overcrowded and the next champ card needs to be a tech upgrade. Or illicit. Or anything other than an EPT.

it's a modification slot. Calling it now. 
My money is on the thermal detonator in the Ghost expansion!
In terms of freedom, Alex did say they can make whatever card they like. It was in response to his fellow commentator saying he should design a Z ace based on how his Z played.
So he could make/have made a pilot card as well as upgrade ones. Pilots would be more FFG restrictive though. They might offer him the upcoming ships and say 'make an ability for one' or let him have free roam of upgrades.
I'd love to make either.
I think we'd ALL love to be able to make a few cards.
