Fighters Squadrons and Rogues Pack

By RLogue177, in Star Wars: Armada

Can Armada be played with just the various fighter squadrons and Rogues Pack? No capital ships at all.

I haven't picked up Armada yet, but this seems like it would be fun. Sort of... Epic scale X-Wing.

No. The game ends when you have no ships. You must have at least one ship. Now if you wanna house rule something, go nuts.

And a Maximum of 1/3rd of your Points may be spent on Squadrons...

Not with the rules as written, though I am sure you could homebrew something. fighter rules are kept streamlined, as they are not the focus of the conflict, and making fighter combat too detailed would bog down the game.

I think you would find epic xwing far more to your liking for what you want to do.

Here are some reasons why:

fighters in armada do not have a facing or firing arcs.

there are no differences in maneuverability, though there are differences in speed.

a y-wing can maneuver the same as an interceptor, it just cannot go as fast.

range is the same for everyone, though the number and type of dice may differ.

I suspect you would find what you suggest to be overly simplified and frankly boring, but you could download the armada PDF for the rules and buy a couple of fighter packs and see what you think.

I was going to say yeah 400 point X-wing game... play on epic size mat.
