Tell me: How do you end your games?

By Nioreh, in Talisman

I'm just curious,

how do you end it (approximately, out of 10 games)?

Copy-paste and enter numbers:

Original ending: /10 (Crown of Command)

Revealed ending: /10 (The ones marked with a Sun symbol in the top left corner)

Standard endings: /10 (Played as revealed standard ending)

Hidden ending: /10 (ie draw a random from standard+hidden endings)

Not meant as a discussion thread . I'd suggest going here for that (or start a new thread ofc)

Edit/Clarification 2015-11-06:

Revealed endings are the ones that must be played as revealed from the beginning of the game
(they usually change the objective of the whole game). They carry the sun symbol in the top left corner.
Standard endings can be played as revealed from the beginning (that's what I mean by this poll-alternative).
They can also be played as hidden (that's why I wrote "standard+hidden endings" for the hidden ending alternative.

Check the awesome Talisman wiki if you're still unsure of what I mean:

Me:

Original ending: 0/10
Revealed ending: 0/10
Standard endings: 3/10 (normally because we want a faster game, Hand of Doom etc)
Hidden ending: 7/10

Original ending: 4/10
Revealed ending: 1/10
Standard endings: 2/10
Hidden ending: 3/10

See below

Hidden Ending: 10/10

Hidden Ending: 10/10

Unless I've just added a new expansion and want to see its characters play out first (in which case I use vanilla Crown, then Warlock Quests ending), this for me as well.

Current six random endings: Battle Royale, Crown and Sceptre, Hand of Doom, Horrible Black Void :P , Ice Queen, Pandora's Box.

Before answering, I was a bit unsure about the meaning of "Standard Ending". Of course I know what the term means in the Talisman context, but is it really an alternative for your poll?

I mean, you may play Standard Alternative Endings with either Revealed or Hidden variant. Any standard Ending will fall under another category, depending on the way you use it.

Removing that category, this is my updated answer:

Original ending: 4/10
Revealed ending: 2/10
(most used ones are A Hero Rises, The Hunt and Sacred Pool)
Hidden ending: 4/10 (randomly chosen among Ice Queen, Hand of Doom, Battle Royale, Thieves' Guild, Pandora's Box, Spreading Flames, Crown of Flame, Judged by Fate)

Now that Nioreh clarified what he meant with "standard Ending"

Original ending: 4/10
Revealed ending: 2/10

Standard ending: 0/10
Hidden ending: 4/10

Original ending: 6/10 (Crown of Command)

Revealed ending: 1/10 (the game-changing ones)

Hidden ending: 3 /10 (ie draw a random from standard+hidden endings)

Unfortunately, about 25% of our games end in ties because player cannot continue on due to time constraints. Primarily that is the reason we stick to the original ending, because we know what to expect. That is a huge struggle for us.

Hidden Ending - 9/10

We usually pick out a few of the hidden ending, including Horrible Black Void, and the first person to land on the CoC picks a face down ending and then we play that ending until there is a winner, unless they drew HBV, then the 2nd person to get to the CoC draws another ending.

Revealed Ending - 1/10

This is when we play with a new expansion.

Original ending: 3/10 (Crown of Command)

Revealed ending: 0/10 (the game-changing ones)

Standard endings: 0/10 (...)

Hidden ending: 3/10 (ie draw a random from standard+hidden endings)

Dragon tower: 4/10 (fight dragon king to win)

As a follow up, any of the standard endings that are not considered revealed or hidden, we mix into the hidden endings and use them as hidden endings.

Thanks for all the answers! :)
Do keep answering (post/edit with all four alternatives even if it's zero), I find this rather interesting..

Original ending: 0/10
Revealed ending: 0/10
Standard endings: 0/10
Hidden ending: 0/10

Before answering, I was a bit unsure about the meaning of "Standard Ending"...

...

I tried edited the original post to (hopefully) clarify it.

There are 27 endings that can be played revealed (15 standard and 12 revealed only); there are 20 that can be played hidden (15 standard and 5 hidden only), all expansions considered, also counting the original ending, danse macabre, and the standard dragon ending.

So that's 27/(20+27) = about 57% revealed endings, and 20/(20+27) = about 43% hidden endings.

Since this is pretty close to 50/50 we just roll a die, and 1-3 we use a revealed ending and 4-6 we use a hidden one.

But we mix in all possible endings of the chosen type.

Guys,

With Talisman getting bigger with each expansion, and with each expansion the game can last a very long time, especially with over 4 players. I just thought of a way of determining the winner if no one has got to the Crown of Command and killed everyone.

The winner is the player/character with the most gold when you determine to call an end to the game. That is not just the gold you have in front of you, but the most gold when you use the table below:

Gold x 1 Gold

Strength Tokens x 3 Gold

Craft Tokens x 3 Gold

Fate Tokens x 3 Gold

Followers x (d6) Gold

Normal Items x (d6) Gold

Magic Items x 2 (d6) Gold

Trophies x 1 Gold

Spells x 1 Gold (Max. 3 Gold)

Is there other things I could put on this list, and by how much should you multiply it by to get gold.

Waiting for your response.

Original ending: 2/10 (Crown of Command)

Revealed ending: 0/10 (The ones marked with a Sun symbol in the top left corner)

Standard endings: 0/10 (Played as revealed standard ending)

Hidden ending: 8/10 (ie draw a random from standard+hidden endings)

Original ending: 0/10 (Crown of Command)

Revealed ending: 5/10 (The ones marked with a Sun symbol in the top left corner)

Standard endings: 0/10 (Played as revealed standard ending)

Hidden ending: 5/10 (ie draw a random from standard+hidden endings)

But we have time, as we play in family. Sometimes the games stays one week one more on the floor due to school, work, etc...

Half time it's revealed, half time hidden.

Original ending: 9/10 (Crown of Command)

Revealed ending: 0/10 (The ones marked with a Sun symbol in the top left corner)

Standard endings: 1/10 (Played as revealed standard ending)

Hidden ending: 0/10 (ie draw a random from standard+hidden endings)

Original ending: 10/10 (Crown of Command) - But with extra criteria (usually 4 Nether Deck cards, Warlock Quests etc)

Revealed ending: /10 (The ones marked with a Sun symbol in the top left corner)

Standard endings: /10 (Played as revealed standard ending)

Hidden ending: /10 (ie draw a random from standard+hidden endings)
