You Won't Believe What Upgrade This Player Put On His K-Wings!

New damage deck for clicks?

I'm sorry, I couldn't resist.

So about the triple K-Wing, triple TLT, triple Tactician build that did well at worlds. Is this just a fluke with a god player using a list that's in actuality not top tier that he's well practiced with, or is it a thing? Variations on the list? Better in this meta than Panic Attack?

I believe the accepted name is "Danger Zone"

TLT K-wings, apart from Miranda, are utter bleh

TLT K-wings using the crew slot that Y-wings don't get and the SLAM action that HWKs dream of and then wake up crying in the night...it's possible

the biggest plus to the triple TLT + tactician K is that he could fit Miranda. Unlike the Wardens, Miranda can carry your ass to victory almost as well as a fat PWT (only with actual choices involved), especially if it's just her against generic pilots

But despite not being a god player, I'd have to guess you basically need to be to succeed. Non-Miranda Ks are absolute garbage in any sort of straight dice exchange and their SLAM, while awesome, will not let them contribute damage to a fight. You basically need to have great foresight and be very creative if you plan on running even one of them, let alone 3.

The K-wing is basically FFG's biggest middle finger to Mathwing to date. They live and die based on how you fly; that single green won't save you

I think an argument can be made for giving Miranda 3PO, but I also think it is a strong list in its initial version. Probably not top tier, but pretty dangerous. A good show of how tiers still aren't the one way to judge things in this game and that flying makes a difference. Too bad it died to the meta list, but Nathan did fly really well.

I was unaware that Poe-Corran-Proto was the new meta.

It isn't invincible. And it needs to be flown well. I would say it is a thing, but I wouldn't call it a gatekeeper. It is really a squad you have to see in action to get an idea of what it can do.

I mean he's in top 8... beating out at least a few people to be there.

Is this buzzfeed?

I think it's a meta play.

It absolutely ruins Palp/Elites.

That loss also illustrates the danger of the list: red dice going south. It leans a lot on unmodified reds, which will usually be okay because you roll so many. It's like the TIE swarm of offense.

It is not "the meta", but it is the standart builds for both of these guys. I made the same list, with Lone Wolf instead of VI for Poe, in another thread a long time ago, where the premise was "Can't you just run Super Poe and Corran with APTs and call it a day now?" with my argument (Being validated by this game by the way, thanks Nathan!) being that no, the Prototype as a blocker gives you a lot more value and strength. The list maybe hasn't been run much, but creating it wasn't much of a creative exercise. Which is fine, options are pretty limited in this game after all, but you still have to acknowledge that it is pretty "meta".

those fickle red dice, right?

I think you have a different understanding of "meta". "meta" =/= "I could have thought of it". What you probably mean was that the list isn't surprising, which is absolutely true.

both

missed 50% of shots against B-wings and shuttles over an entire round because every single 1-hit roll was evaded

Well, it is the meta build for Corran that has been used ever since wave 5 has paired him with Han and Dash and the meta build for Poe, that has been discussed ever since he was revealed. Maybe the whole list isn't meta, but the components definitly are. Does that make the list meta? I'd say yes, but I can understand why you wouldn't think so. It is a fair point.

Whatever, wasn't this thread about triple Ks? :P

FFG gave mathwing a middle finger? GOOD.

Also generic K's are not trash by a long shot.

they are in straight dice exchanges

but you're not doing straight dice exchanges with Ks, are ya?

no no no

you're a slamming, jamming, monster mash having gloriously graceful and drunken space albatross, who don't need no dice!

Super Poe and Super Corran together is definitely a meta list. It's the epitome of Acewing.

I think C-3PO on Miranda is an option, but you lose the insurance of having 3 Tacticians. There is also downgrading Miranda to a Warden Squadron and plopping 3 -4 Seismic Charges in the list, or 2 Conners on one with Extra Munitions.

You can't say no to two stress per ship with no drawbacks (a la stresshog).

(And . . . does this count as having called it? :P )

It was Aaron Bonar, it's well documented that he's pretty good.
