End of Round points and whipeout

By Sander Walgers, in Star Wars: Armada Rules Questions

Some scenarios (such as Contested Outpost) grant points at the end of each round. If all of the ships of one of the players is destroyed the game ends immediately.

Phases from that round such as the squadron phase are skipped. But wil you still get the end of the round points?

Yes: The game has ended, so the round has ended as well, so you get the points.

No: The game has ended, no additional scores can be gained.

Any ideas?

"Round" is defined in the Rulebook (Page 9) as thus:

Round

A single game round consists of four phases resolved in the following order: Command Phase, Ship Phase, Squadron Phase, and Status Phase.

Round tokens are used to track the current round of the game; the round number is equal to the highest number on the round tokens placed next to the play area. The round token marked “1” is placed next to the play area during setup, and the next highest round token is placed during each Status Phase.

The game ends after six rounds

---

The points are tallied up at "End of Round", which is after all 4 Phases.

However, if the game ends immediately , then all 4 Phases are not played through, and thus there is no end of round Calculation.

You don;t play through the Squadron Phase or the Status phase when all ships are destroyed, the game has Ended , immediately .

What Dras said. As usual :D

I'm okay at quoting stuff that already exists... But unlike you, I'm shitehouse at working out cool new stuff :D

Well, that's indeed the point. The rest of the phases are not played through. The reason I am not sure about this, is because the points are not granted during a specific phase, but when the round has ended.

Technically, if the game ends, so does the round.

I do agree that al thing that normally happen during the game cannot be done after the game has ended immediately, and that includes any bonus points given.

This is how Rieekan works as well. End of round vs end of game.

I'm not sure I agree with the underlined interpretation. The round is no longer played, but it hasn't ended either (you did not play all the required phases for it to end). The game ended mid-round.

Anyway, there's another argument. Let's take Contested Outpost, for example:

End of Round: Each player sums the command values of his ships at distance 1 of the station. The player with the highest total gains 1 victory token.

Those are game effects - which cannot be resolved if the game has already ended ('immediately' -> without resolving any further effects) and a winner has already been assigned.

True :)

good points all. 6 to 1, half dozen to the other ;) . need a FFG FAQ on this one. IMO the games ends , you don't get the extra points. you never made it to the squadron phase by destroying all the opponent's ships so bye bye extra points.

if you were looking for extra points then you shouldn't have blown up your opponent so quickly LOL. but then the winner in a tourney will argue so they can get more points so it depends on who is defending which statement.
