News of Wave 3????

By Tranenturm, in Star Wars: Armada

I hope they announce as they get to the boats.

That way no delays or problems to worry us with.

They will probably capitalize on the coat tails of a movie releasing on December 18th and make an announcement just in time for a Merry Holiday season with a release planned for GenCon 2016.

I think that a part is that they aren't allowed to talk about anything Ep7 related. They probably have something still under NDA until the film comes out or just before. Especially on the Rebel side, I suspect that they have something other than a square-dished Falcon and new X-Wings.

But then Lego have released Force Awakens sets, so is there NDA different? Hopefully any delay in an announcement will be because of delays of wave 2, simply because I'm hoping it doesn't have Ep7 stuff in :D

You know im honestly supprised there isn't any teaser's for obvious add on's that they plan to release for wave 3. Although this could mean that we the community can't agree on 1 or 2 ships fro both the reb's and imp's. But most people are probably correct and they don't want to show us anything about wave 3 because it contains spoilers from the new movie.

So,

Worlds seems like a logical time to release news of Wave 3. Thoughts?

No.

Wave 2 sounds like a good momoent. On release. When players can field at leas one ship of every type in their fleet.

One thing at a time young padawan. Let the Force flow through you.

The FFG stream yesterday spoiled that they are working on Wave 4 initial development.

Not sure if I'm excited or scared about that. LOL!

You're exited. Just scared to admit it.

I really realy hope, whenever its coming, the next wave is NOT Force Awakens stuff. Marketing is part of the game, oc, we are living proof, but there is so much Star Wars left for Armada that for many belongs to a SW capital ship game that I really hope the game will not be abused as merchandise tool for a new era immediately.

I believe the appropriate term is "scaroused"

I wish they would relese info on upcoming ships. Even if just a short list what ships we can expect. Having half a mind to just go shapeways for all my models instead of FFG. Will have the additional benefit of the ships being in scale.

Perhaps the winner of worlds will get a surprise prototype model from wave 3. Unlikely, but darn cool if they did it.

I like new waves, really do. It's game refreshing and fun.

Although FFG is generating waves too fast.

As X-Wing and Armada fan and collector I would like have all the miniatures, but I will not follow 4 or more waves a year for each.

So, if we are going to have the same pace of x-wings waves in armada I will probably drop both.

That said, I would like to hear about wave 3 in the middle in the end of the first quarter of 2016.

6 months between armada waves it seems like. That isn't too fast in my book.

I would like an Armada wave every 4-6 months

I'm good with 2-3 waves in a year. (Core set, wave 1, & wave 2 all in 2015.) If they can stick to that, it will be close enough together to maintain interest, without glutting the game with high price items too quickly.

And to be fair, there is plenty of FFG support for the game. 5 local tournament prize packs in the first year alone, plus Gencon and Worlds. I will take that any day.

There are only 3 ships left from the original trilogy. One is an unarmed transport and another is the Super Star Destroyer. There are very few capital ships left in the EU that aren't bigger or smaller versions of something that already exists or variously sized boxes. The boxy visual design of most of the "famous" ships like the Carrack cruiser or Lancer frigate is literally the antithesis of the Star Wars visual style. The existence of the Raider suggests to me that they would rather create new ships than use existing designs that don't feel like Star Wars.

The only stuff really left is Clone Wars or Force Awakens. Or more original designs like the Raider.

I fully expect more EU/new cannon ships even if they look like boxes or triangles. Even FA stuff will likely look like a box or triangle if they follow any sense of design continuity.
