Predictions for Worlds

Where can I view the recordings?

Looks like the only really loser was upgrade cards.

Looks like the only really loser was upgrade cards.

Don't forget the Nebulon B!

Winner was:

CR90 /w Garm

AFMKII-B

AFMKII-B

8x A-Wings.

No upgrades.

This is..... Unexpected.

Beat a GenCon Special as well in the end.

The GenCon special beat itself. When he set up in front of his own objectives, my comment was

"Posted Yesterday, 02:52 PM

How did this Imp get 36 points? he is pileing up on the three tokens heplaced?"

If the only thing he did different, was kill the CR90 instread of the A-wing, it would have been 98 point win for the Rebels, instead of 226.

Remember with 8A's and 3 Ships... the Rebel player puts down a ship. The Imp player must deploy all his ships BEFORE (assuming he puts 4x 2 of A's) the Rebel puts down both Guppies.

Perhaps I'm asking something stupid or something I don't understand for not speaking English as mother tongue, but what ist that 10 RhymerBall? I know what a Ryhmerball is, I Think (e.g. Rhymer and 3 other Bombers + perhaps some Advanceds or any other combination). But what exactelly is the 10 RhymerBall? I could not find an explanation in forum search or on google.

This.

This. This. This. This.

I've said this so many times, and people have continued to wildly underestimate the INSANE power that squadrons grant you in the deployment phase.

Imperials have a HUGE advantage here. TIE fighters are 8 points, so you can buy a whole deployment for 16 pts. That's CRAZY!

It's like getting a free Superior Positions objective on top of whatever you're actually playing.

SO easy to totally outdeploy people and pick your positions at leisure with maximum intel, and SO potent an ability.

I believe it's Rhymer + 9 other squadrons (10 squadrons total). In Wave I, it's usually a smattering of TIE fighters or Bombers, with maybe a few TIE advanced thrown in. With Wave II (and another 34 points) it could be plenty of other things.

Edit: Rhymer + 9 TIE bombers, clarified below.

@Masseter... sorry, 10 RhymerBall = Rhymer + 9 Tie Bombers

In a 3-Round format, it absolutely crushes the GenCon Special. Imp (Black Dice) All-Ship Builds have no chance to weather so many bombers.

With Flight Controllers, it has a fighting chance against a 2x B-Wing, 2x A-Wing, 2x Guppy build.

Again, my prediction was for 3x Guppies + 2 squadrons (probably A-Wings).

I assume the eventual Worlds Winner designed his list to beat a double Guppy mirror match and GenCon Special builds. Well done!

If you are familiar with fighting games like Street Fighter... the other aspect of Armada is that some lists are intrinsically very favorable, favorable, unfavorable, very unfavorable match ups. I don't play enough X-Wing to know if arc dodgers beat jouster beat turrets beat arc dodgers exist but the concept applies.
