Predictions for Worlds

By IceQube MkII, in Star Wars: Armada

My round one game finished a few minutes ago. I'm flying an AF2 paragon, Salvation escort Neb, and Jaina's Light with 2 xwing a, an A wing, and tycho.

I played Ian who was fying a VSD2 with screed and two GSDs, no fighters.

My Advanced Gunnery was selected as the objective.

We played to a 5-5. He lost the VSD and one glad while I lost paragon and the Slavation.

Waiting for round 2 pairings at this point.

thx again and gl for the next game.

just watched the x-wing final, and paul did it again.

Good luck in the next round dab.

Happy hunting!

I think a list with 2AF's, and a horde of B-wings would do very nicely. No question that Bwings do better with wave2 and 400 points though.

Is there any listing that we can see of who's there flying what sorts of lists?

Game 2 was against a 2 ship (Galant Haven and Jaina's Light) rebel and aces list We played my superior positions. I messed up my positioning and failed to get my Paragon into the fight. He destroyed my fighters except Tycho and I ended up losing 4-6.

Round two is just about to end.

I wish. . .

Haven, hm. I tried several times, but my figters seemed to be needed elsewhere, def not in range 1 of the Havens protection. That or get too close to a VSD. I definitly dont yet got the hang of flying GH.

GL for rd 3, Dab.

What's roughly the Empire-to-Rebel ratio?

Are we watching the top table (Julian Hervath vs. Dustin Foran)? (So much for Rhymerball vs. Dual Gups in this case.)

a no fighter game, hm.

I once murdered 6 corvettes in a tourney with a Yavaris build, but both players still learning then.

hm, the commentary is strange, but maybe its just me.

I predict:

I'm not going, so that means some other fellow has a fighting chance!

If I was attending... yeah, whatever I brought would be the winning list.

True story.

I would pay money to see you and Lupine go at it in the finals

*bows* You flatter me, Lyraeus. One of these days I'll make it down here. Quite frankly, wave two is shaking all my tactics, and I'm madly adjusting to it, or trying to. It'll bear some very careful consideration.

I predict that the winning list will be Two guppies with a cr90 and either 3Ywings or 3Awings

I predict...

I won't win, haha. A bad day for me that started off well with a 9-1, but then a 0-10 and a 2-8 shattered my dreams.

Neb-Bs oh how I love and hate thee,

I shall see thee again with Riekan,

until then you are not for me.

I was using a 1 Assault Frigate and 2 Neb-B (Salvation and Yavaris) list with 3 B-wings and an A-wing. I tabled a 2 Assault frigate 1 CR90a list while only losing Yavaris. Then I lost too a 2 Vic 2 Glad Scree build. I need to bid less in the future to guarantee first player in these situations, since Demolisher took out both Nebs and half of my Assault Frigate over the game...I new I needed first player as soon as I saw the matchup but it was not to be. Last game was versus 2 Assault Frigates and 2 CR90a with Mon Mothma. I was out maneuvered and made a mistake in not getting out of arc with my final ship on the final turn. Salvation died before his final assault frigate could fly off the board and a 8-2 became a 2-8. Hopefully I'll claw my way as high as I can tomorrow.

From my perspective I saw predominantly Imperial lists. 1-3 Vics and 0-4 Glads were there in nearly every legal combination. Rymer had a big showing along with small cadres of bombers-advanced-Tie/ln. I would speculate 35-40% Rebels and 60-65% Imperials. On the Rebel side I saw single Assault Frigates as well as double Assault Frigates, usually with corvettes, but sometimes with Nebs. They usually had a few A-wings and some had a few other squadrons sprinkled in. A CR90 swarm was present, but other than that I didn't see much variation. I wish I had had time to check around and see what the assault frigates were running for a defensive retrofit, as well as the overall xi7 numbers. From first glance, minimal xi7 and still AP use. I'll look into that more tomorrow.

XI7 Turbolasers don't have enough damage in wave 1 to be worth it in my opinion

I agree, they don't make sense on anything but maybe a Vic-2 right now. Tou need to be doing 3+ damage on single shots reliably before they're worth taking, and nothing is doing that right now except Vics and Glads. They're wasted with ACM, which every single Glad should have right now, as should pretty much any Vic-1 built for battery damage. That leaves Vic-2's that should be taking it, IMO. And not Warlord, because the H9 combo is better on there.

So yeah, they'll come into their own in Wave 2, but not so much yet.

4 (with accuracy) actually.

At 3 damage you are getting it braced and the moved.

It is why I never place XI7 Turbolasers on my Assault Frigates

Should've specified: you need to be reliably doing 3+ *after brace*, whether you achieve that by brute force or by accuracying the brace.

Sounds great!

What were the top 2-4 lists, anybody know yet?

My baby brother went to worlds... and all he did was play a lousy card game. A Game of Thrones I think, but who cares. I think I'll banish him from the family for this heinous transgression of the family code.

Won't have any clue until rounds 4-5 conclude today. Right now there should be something like 7-8 undefeated lists with a 55 player field, with maybe 4-5ish of them being at 27 points or higher.

I didnt do the math, but the Xl7 served me well on AFs. Its true, though, that I felt the lack of punch in those games. Emphasized my positioning.

XI7 + EA + Paragon = Starting to make sense.

XI7 (+1 EL) + Vic-I = Also a semi-viable option.
