I recently tried 3 rookies and 3 bandits for a rebel swarm. Turns out I'm not a big fan of z-95s so im wondering if this will do the do the job better

Is losing an x-wing really worth the A's?

only if you put proton torpedoes on the X-wings because that can do most of your damage to the thing causing the most problems.

I'm still a rookie... but it gave me the idea of this:

2 T70 Blue Squad Novice

3 A-wing Prototype Pilots

but I also like....

2 T70 Blue Squad

2 Bwing Blue Squad Pilots

leaves enough room for some upgraded too

prototype pilots are great at one thing only: blocking.

You don't need three blocker, however. I would suggest taking no more than 2 proto pilots. Even one is enough. If you like the idea of flying multiple a-wings, I don't think this archetype is the right way to go. I would suggest 4-5 ships so that you can add more firepower elsewhere in your list...
