Just wondering if i am playing this Rule correctly as it came up in couple recent games I have played. The rule is
"1. Declare Target. During this step, the attacker (the active ship) must declare its target (the ship he wishes to attack). The target ship must be inside the attacker’s firing arc and within range. A player may measure to verify that these conditions are met before declaring a target."
I have always interpreted this as meaning you can only measure range and check firing arcs with the ship you are shooting with at the moment (your active ship) and not any others. So for example if two equal pilot skill ships on the same team are shooting only 1 can only be measuring and checking its firing arc. A player can not also measure and check the firing arc of any other ship while deciding what the active ship will shoot at.
I have only recently been pointing this out to players as I have been playing a lot of twin laser turret lists and players what to correctly get concentrated fire on targets, so they measure with all their ships and then decide what to fire upon. I often use an example of a 9 pilot skill ship vs a 1 pilot skill as it is more obvious which is the active ship in this example, but maybe its different for same pilot skill ships. I don't know. Maybe I am playing incorrectly, If I am I would like to know.
