New Player looking for balanced fleets

By Acheron143, in Star Wars: Armada Fleet Builds

Hello, What I possess is:

Core

Assault Frigate MK 2

Imperial Fighter Squadrons

Imperial Raider

Is there some way to make this a balanced fight considering my lack of model choice and upgrade cards? What would be the best fleet I could put together? Or do I absolutely need to go out and buy some more models?

Thanks for your time.

Edit- misread what you're going for.

Gonna want some more Imperial models. While 2 AFIIs can make a list all by themselves, a VSD/Raider duo do not. Get a Gladiator!

at 300 points, you cannot fashion an imperial list with what you have available (just a VSD and a raider)

for rebels, your only option is to toss everything you have in at the same time

EA on the cr90, I guess? Hardly, optimal, but that's working with what you got

Remember to start speed 2, always Garm at least one navigate, and open up the game with a navigate command to react to your opponent. At speed 2, the Neb in particular can jump to an incredibly maneuverable speed 3 to escape otherwise certain death.

You'd have a much easier time of things with a purchase of another Afmk2 (don't worry, it's an incredibly solid and flexible ship and will fit most any fleet). 2 Afmk2s with a CR-90a under Garm make for a pretty convincing list, and the X-wings can provide decent support

Garm's Afmk2s are also a more forgiving and flexible ship that can make learning what is a fairly high learning curve game much more enjoyable. It's a combination of nav token flexibility combined with very decent durability and wide "primary" arcs (i.e, the arcs you most want to be shooting out of)

Nebs are fantastic ships, but they're the opposite of Afmk2s in that their weak arcs are the widest and their strong the narrowest. Basically, they're awesome but they also take the most time to get used to (Garm helps a lot, though)

If you're going to use nebs, I'm a firm believer of getting them in position as far as possible, then keep them at speed 1 to snipe with salvation. Activating it last will hopefully have all its damage go to it's intended arc if your other ships did a good job of exhausting defense tokens.
