I really like the Bespin mat, in part because of the color scheme. (I can never get too much orange.) It's true that the proportions are off a little bit, but my bigger concern is how my orange bases will look on that mat. 
Honestly, for a Scum and Villainy player, I like this mat a ton because it reminds me so much of the Tales of the Bounty Hunter book where everyone is looking for Solo. I'm really torn between this one and the normal space mat.
Right around the time wave II was on the boat I discovered the beauty of the Obsidian Squadron list, and flew it to death. "Howlrunner," "Night Beast," "Winged Gundark," and 4 Obsidian Squadron Pilots. Since that day I have dreamed of a Bespin mat, and the artwork on this mat does not disappoint! And that's another bit: it's actually artwork to me, and not just a picture on a flat surface. Makes me a lot more willing to spend the $40 on it as my second play mat. Man I can't wait!
Bespin is for sale at the game center. They had a pile of them there. Same with the DSII mats.
The saturation on the Bespin print is incredible - DSII is a bit toned down when side-by-side with the Bespin print, but it looks really good, as well.
2. Don't you think it will look goofy having asteroids floating around bespin? Or star destroyers completely out of scale with bespin?
Guess we'll just have to make floating Tibanna Gas pods, won't we 
Or we could just pretend that the asteroids are the floating tibana gas platforms.
And do you guys remember that level from Rogue Squadron where you escort the CR90 through the clouds of a similar planet?
...Oh YEAH!!!! Will definitely be looking through Mission Control for something like that!

Looks terrible and not worth 40 bucks imo
Joe Boss Red Seven, you don't find the proportions "off" at all? Notice how close/focused the clouds are in relation to their distance to outerspace? The complete lack of every layer of Upper Atmosphere, including all the invisible layers that should blur those pretty clouds. This Bespin mat looks "shopped," when it could have looked like satellite imagery. Unfortunate, really. All fluff, zero oversight.
No way... I fall way more skillfully than that.

Edited by SwedgeI had a hard time deciding on which mat to buy yesterday, but decided on the Bespin. Now I have an extra mat, so my son can pilot his own ships at the LGS. Woot...that will bring us up to 4 or 5 players a week.

As soon as I saw the Endor/Death Star 2 playmat as a reward I had wanted to buy that. So glad to see they decided to sell it.
Any word on when the people not at worlds can purchase the new playmats?
"Very soon" according to stream commentary. It is reasonable, the original mats were there pretty quickly after they were announced.
Thanks. I really want the Death Star II mat as soon as I can. Wish I had know someone that attended worlds because I would have had the pick one up for me.
why wont they make an EPIC mat....
I figure so they can sell 2 3x3 playmats.
