Paul was running that Poe setup in TC Aces league as well.

I imagine his reasoning for R2D2 over R5P9 is that he's using Poe as an ace-counter. If you give Poe VI, you're going to be boosting a lot against PS9 aces in which case regen via R2D2 is much more dependable.

The board is better than Alex and thingy, their lag was so bad the noise made the cats jumpy.

Works fine mostly. My godlike connection probalby helps, though.

The dice were bad, but that was poor tactical awareness at the end. You're up two points and are not going to take Chewbacca out with a pair of Black Squadron TIEs. Take the modified win and run.

That guy Tate threw so hard. Was ahead, Chewie running away towards the edge, and he already got half points for him.

Instead, the Imeprial player chases, tries to block/bump, gets greedy, then loses everything. Nerves? Inexperience? Bad strategy? Possibly all 3.

I'll throw out an RTS term for all players at Worlds right now, since at the end of the day, despite this board rabidly supporting "fly casual": When ahead, stay ahead. That's how you win games instead of throwing hard for absolutely no reason.

Yeah, pretty much. Why even go, stay at the hotel, pay for travel, and eat crappy overpriced food just so you can throw games live on Twitch.

I don't think he threw it. I think he wanted to try and get Chewie gone and hoped his green dice would work better.

Even if he ran, Chewie has the speed, base size and all-round range where he still might of lost a TIE or two that way, based on his greens.

Oh yeah he overshot some moves too to keep Chewie in arc, and threw towards the end pretty hard, but the game should have been over long before. His only early mistake was not turning into Vrill in the early rounds. Alex's insights are spot on, you want to use the Howlrunner reroll with Crack Shot to gib the lower health ship and negate the higher agility. I think he also forgot the 2400 can 1 turn.

I really hated his dice though, his list felt stronger.
