Stress Eaden Vrill list

By aelith, in X-Wing Squad Lists

Hello!

I have a tournament coming up and i wanted to try to use eaden vrill, what do you guys think about this list?

Gold squadron pilot (y-wing)

- r3a2

- Ion Turret

- Flechette torpedoes

Blue squadron pilot (b-wing)

- Flechette torpedoes

- title + Tactician

Eadan Vrill

-Tactician

Bandit squadron pilot (z95)

I've also been trying out ideas for poor overlooked Eaden Vrill since I already love stress causers, I always splurge on my Y-wing with R3-A2, TwinLaser Turret, and BTL-A4 Title. Lay down three stress  on the first pass at any range (as long as it's in arc) and then Eaden can chase that one for a couple turns while they try to burn stress.

I've ended up dropping the torpedoes from my R3 Y-wing though for two reasons: first it's hard to get a target lock when your Y-wing is so hard to un-stress. Second is that Flechette Torps only stresses on "hull value '4' or lower" and according to the FAQ that's the printed hull value, as opposed to the remaining number of hits.

I haven't actually tried Vrill yet, but I've been curious about working him into a rebel list at some point (I don't fly rebels often, so its kind of on the back-burner still).

Anyway, the build I've been considering is:

Vrill w/ HLC, intel agent & ion projector = 42

The idea here is that you don't care about using his ability all the time because you have a heavy laser cannon for R2/3 shots. Vrill's primary job is to muck up the opponent's plans and force them into a tough choice: k-turn behind him or bump him and possibly get ioned. If they k-turn, yay, Vrill's ability activates for 3/4 dice turret shot (depending on whether they end up R1 or farther). If they bump, well you can't shoot at them with Vrill, but hopefully they get ionned, have no actions, and the rest of your list will tear them a new one.

So I would say the best team mates for this Vrill are ships that can deal lots of damage. B-wings might be ideal since they can move slow and like in-close fighting, but you probably want at least PS4+ so Eaden is always moving first. You can even throw ion cannons on them (or perhaps only one) to further muck up the opponent's moves.

R3-A2 on a BTL-A4 y-wing would also be a good choice. Could maybe even fit in Corran or some other heavy-hitting rebel ace.

Nice idea but Blue squadron pilot and Gold squadron pilot are pilot skill 2

and Eadan Vrill is 3 so Eadan Vrill will shoot before you can stress them

IMHO the better way would be to stress them before Eadan Vrill could shoot (with predator)

If you double or triple stress with BTL-A4 then it will still be there next turn for Eaden Vrill, but I actually go for PS8 Horton Salm with R3, rerolls give him more consistent damage output.

Too bad Eaden Vrill doesn't have and Elite Pilot Talent slot...
