Star Wars Rebellion

Nice, seems like they are finally releasing a CR90 in a more proper scale...

looks great but I already can't get a game of twilight imperium together

I sense a strong presence. A presence of ships coming to Armada that I haven't seen since the late nineties.

I'm just glad they get to re-use the X-Wing, Y-Wing, and TIE Fighter minis they are already using for Armada.

And if you notice they have GR75 and Gozanti cruiser miniatures too, could these end up being re-purposed for Armada as well?

Ahhhhhhhhhhhh and a dinky Super star destroyer lol...I do like the Death stars though...Probably find this game pieced out on evilbay after the release...

On the glance-over, I'm disappointed. I would have liked to have seen a game board that really looks like the SW galaxy, rather than this abstraction that highlights only a few systems.

I would bet on it, we have already seen the rogues and villains come from X-wing which they had the 3D models for, makes sense to use them where they can

Guys... if you haven't been expecting the Gozanti to make its way into Armada, I don't know what rock you've been living under.

Maybe it's just me, but it's seemed like a foregone conclusion since it was announced for X-Wing.

This has a certain amount of appeal to me.

Its hard to tell from the pictures, but I feel those X-Wings and TIEs are actually Larger than the Armada ones... At least, for the X-Wing, based on the amount of detail that they seem to have, versus the actual plastic we have here...

But again, very hard to tell without something to give us a perspective baseline, which nothing here does.

But what role would a Gozanti play in the Armada context? Small-base ship with high squadron and high hull value and low weapons?

Those seem to be 3D renders - meaning the level of detail is not representative of the actual injection-molded product.

But even then, assuming they are in relative scale with each other, that would mean the Stormtrooper is *TINY*...

Like I said, hard to tell.

The Gozanti is too small to even be a small base ship, it would have to be fighter craft scale to even look reasonable. Would have made more sense to include one of those in an imperial fighter expansion than a bunch of scum like we got.

Yeah, it is. It doesn't help that the first and the last image show different relative sizes of the figures compared to the dice.

On the glance-over, I'm disappointed. I would have liked to have seen a game board that really looks like the SW galaxy, rather than this abstraction that highlights only a few systems.

While that would be nice, I really would hate to have to spend $150 to $200 for such a game.

You could always just use the pieces and create your own sector maps.

Well, I don't think my assessment of this game is going to be fair, because I'm probably looking for an entirely different experience. I trust that FFG has made a good board game, but I don't think it's a board game I'm looking for.

I want something that will deepen my enjoyment of Armada (and X-Wing.... maybe even Imperial Assault if I ever take that plunge). The Mon Cala campaign is the first inkling of that, but I would like for the next iteration to be something that is a little more rules-bound with greater buy-in from the community.

Anyway, that's a digression. This thread is about the new game.

Wooohohooow nice.

Still, I'm waiting for a land-based miniatures game with AT-ATs as biggest miniature and infantry represented as 'swarm bases' - just like ships and squadrons in Armada

This thread is about the new game and how we can adapt it to Armada for campaign use.

In all honesty we could just pin/tape a Sector map to a board and use mini colored magnets to represent task forces or use these new models to show strength of said forces (putting magnets in these should be easy enough)

ha ya...I was totally thinking of getting 2 copies. 1 for playing, and 1 for magnetizing and using for an Armada campaign.

I wonder if this is based on the pc game of the same name. It seems very similar to it from what I've read in the article so far....

Hothzone Commander.
