NO X-WING GROUND WAR GAMES...

I hope you have some good ideas for infantry. Here are some suggestions that I have in my rules:

1.) Do not give them maneuvers or dials.

2.) Allow them to take advantage of terrain and have the option to "go to ground" even in the open,

3.) Allow them the option of assaulting ground targets.

4.) Have them behave like real troops and be susceptible to being "pinned down" and "breaking" under fire.

5.) Allow them to rally and get back into the fight based on their skill and training.

6.) Give Stormtroopers some advantage for their armor!

Sounds an awful lot like 40k

Nope, it is more based on Flames of War which is a better representation of small scale platoon actions. It still uses X-Wing dice and tokens, just in a unique and clever way.

Regarding ST armor it is all relative. It can give a benefit to attacks from enemy infantry attacks but is of no use against heavier weaponry. Ask any serving serviceman or women if they would trade in their body armor in a firefight, it is not just there for show.

Infantry combat is no more complicated than ship to ship combat and is just as fast to resolve but has more varied combat results.
