On a serious side this doesn't look like anything I want to play at all, I would rather play Armada.... and I have never played Armada! I am happy if FFG doesn't make ground units for X-Wing as this allows keen people to come up with their own version of rules and repurpose other models.

What on earth does this game have to do with the likelihood of a 1/270th scale, ground based miniature wargame? This is a galactic scale strategic board game. If anything, this makes a ground game more likely since they are, in fact, apparently covering all the various levels of operation.

Who is going to pay $75 each for the three (you know you want three) in scale AT-AT's anyhow... which is what it would be.

Um..., no it wouldn't be $75 for a less than 3" tall AT-AT. $30, tops. They'd be a bit smaller than the x-wing scale falcon, after all. How the heck do you figure $75?

Forgottenlore is right, an AT-AT is 20m long and 22.5m high, so it's the same length as IG-2000. I'd give it a single base and a dial like a Lambda/YV-666, with a white 0 maneuver. That's a pretty cool set up you've got so far, looks fun.

Also, Rebellion looks awesome. I might have to take the plunge as long as there's no expansions planned in the immediate future, I'm investing too much in X-wing and Imperial Assault as it, and I'm already falling behind in IA.

Well, no they shouldn't. And pretty obviously so. I'm honestly more than a little surprised that you of all people would have the scale of an AT-AT so wrong. Both canon AND legends has the size of an AT-AT at 22.5m tall. That is 3.28" tall at 1/270 scale, same as the fighters. That AT-AT toy is just under 5" tall, so it is about 1.5" too big. As Radarman5 mentions, the AT-AT is exactly as tall as the IG-2000 is long, so if (IF) ffg were to create an AT-AT miniature in the same scale as X-Wing, it would clearly fit on a single large base.

However! Even given your egregiously oversized model there (which is a totally cool model and a VERY good one to use for home brew Battle of Hoth games), it is STILL no where close to the size of the rebel transport. A miniature that only costs $60 and comes with an extra $15 X-wing to boot, so your idea that such a hypothetical AT-AT would cost $15 MORE than a larger miniature that comes with additional product is just baffling.

Going by the shot in the Empire Strikes Back when Luke uses the grapple gun to climb up one, AT-ATs are about 30 meters tall. I guess it's not the "official" measurement, but it's the one we see onscreen.

The one in that picture is definitely oversized, since a Y-Wing is 23 and a half meters long.

An AT-AT is the same length as a Lambda shuttle.

Admittedly the scales are not 100% perfect, but on the table it all looks like it does in the films and that is what was important to me... it looks almost perfect, and given the sliding scale of "Feels Right" it is all very good for me.

I am using DropZone 10MM figures and they look like they can **** near sit in the X-WING ships. When I have my tiny guys running with the AT-AT pictured in my first Land Wars image, they look just like that image of Luke zooming up the wire.

I am very happy... I have STAR WARS on my table very much like in the movies... all three movies.

-sigh- I have been buying imperial assault even though I can't find anyone that plays it. Not even skirmish. Now another Star Wars game... I hope this doesn't mean one of the Star Wars games is on the way out. These things take some serious time to learn to play well.

I've been doing the same, just to paint the minis. Haven't seen teh game played, so I haven't even punched the cardboard.

Rebellion looks like it could be fun ... but I really want a Ground Assault game for AT-ATs, snowspeeders, and other stuff that could be in X-wing but aren't.

I know we have all seen this one... it is cute, and cool.

So.. To derail the thread; with rebels showing that the gozanti can carry 4 at-dp's and likely 4 at-st's, does that mean a Gozanti could carry an AT-AT?

At least the description of it seems to match a lot what that PC game was: asymmetrical strategic grand-scale game, character driven, all the wat to the possibility of blowing up planets with the Death Star or capturing the other player's characters and all...

Seems interesting, but if it's just basically 2 player and only 4 player if 2 players coop each side, I think I'll pass. Tide of Iron was an FFG 2-4 player game, but just 2 sides and in 4 player setting, each player only had half of the troops. Additional players didn't contribute much to the game. Even in a game like Axis & Allies, playing with more than 2 players is a stretch, because there are only 2 sides and in general 1 player tends to dominate one side's strategy.

Might pick it up on a super-sale or used in a couple of years, but perhaps I'll just let it pass.

Most ppl have been saying this is a Star Wars TI I would say it has the little hexes on it so a Star Wars version of the starcraft boardgame or Forbidden stars.

In Starcraft you have 2 factions per race for 6 factions total. Each has its own win condition and slightly different tactics. So I would expect something simmilar for this too.

Despite seeing it's civillian model once in a prequel, it's Disney's child now with Rebs showing it so often. They gotta promote it! I wouldn't be surprised if it was a directive from the very top for FFG to put as much of it everywhere as possible! Just like Hera, Kallus or the Inquisitor.

Also seeing how those fighters are just Armada models, we're extremely likely to see the Gozanti (I really dislike the name - just doesn't feel imperial enough - even the generic "assault carrier" sounds better and more fitting) in Armada in third wave. Hell, if the new movies weren't set 30 years in the future we'd see those on Empire's side in new trilogy!
