What is a "Fat Han"

By Avendale, in X-Wing Squad Lists

ok I am very new to the game and rushed right out and jumped on a YT-1300. I see these Fat Hans on youtube but I don't understand the workings of it. Any help out there?

There is a New Player "Quick Start" Guide a ways down on the forum that will help explain most builds.

ok ill keep scrolling

It is in the pinned 'Index of useful links post', under: Strategy Guides: Squad Building

'Fat' is a term applied to ships that are 'point fortresses'. Meaning that they cost a lot of points and are very hard to kill. Typically 60+ points for a single ship. Up until recently, you scored points towards MOV (margin of victory) based on the number of points you destroyed in your opponent's fleet, plus the number of points that survived in your fleet. However, FFG recently changed the tournament rules so that large-based ships (the most common used as point fortresses) now give up half their total point value if you take off at least half of its combined hull/shields. This removes some of the appeal of flying a point fortress and perhaps using it to 'game' the tournament system.

Harrison Ford is getting up there in age so lets cut him some slack here.

To me a phat Han is a Han build that is getting near 60 points. C-3PO is a must. Usually has Gunner, Luke, Lando or R2-D2 to keep C-3PO company.. Sometimes has Engine Upgrade. Always has an EPT of some sort. Predator and Push the Limit are common. Falcon Title is a must.

What this allows you to do is turtle up and take the Evade Action and use C-3PO to mitigate at least 2 damage per turn while using Han's ability and/or Gunner, Luke, and Predator to maintain good offensive capabilities.

I like Han Solo in the Millennium Falcon with C-3PO, Lando, Veteran Instincts and Experimental Interface. You make a green move, take Evade action, activate Experimental Interface to use Lando, get stress, remove stress, end up with between 1 and 3 Evade tokens and between 0 and 2 Focus tokens. At PS 11 you shoot first. You can trade out VI for Wired or Predator or whatever. Determination is extra defensive. To save points I like Chewie more and he always takes Predator to get re-rolls.
