New player.

By Avendale, in X-Wing Squad Lists

So I am a new player, I have the new core set, X-Wing, YT-2400, YT-1300, B-Wing, and Hawk 290 expansions for the Rebel side. Slave I and Most wanted for the Scum side. I am not much of an IMP player. I have just been playing for fun with my son at home, but would like to get into better list. So far my favorite list is Dash with Lando and HLC with Outrider and Kyle with Recon Spec and a turret and Moldycrow.

I only have the stock upgrades from the expansions, I was wondering if one of the Vets might be able to give me a more elite List with what I have available.

Thanks a ton from the Rookie Pilot.

Looking at your favorite list, I'd say you've got two good ships, but together they might not be the best combo. HLC Outrider packs a mean punch, but leaves you with a big fat hole surrounding your heavy hitter. Katarn, Recon Spec, and the Crow are a great booster to ships that for some reason need a focus. Say, if your wanting to launch an advanced proton torpedo from your X-Wing or B-Wing. I've never been a fan of 2-ship lists without much agility, although I suppose they have their uses.

With what you've got, my idea would be Wedge, Kyle, and a cheap T-70 X-Wing, or YT-2400 and two smaller ships. I'm more of an Imperial player myself, so I take my recommendations with a grain of salt.

Also, the M-3A Scyk would boost your Scum and give access to the "Mangler" cannon that I think would go great with Outrider. A Rebel Z-95 would give your Rebels access to two super cheap ships if you just need a filler (because of the ones in Most Wanted). Just some thoughts if you were planning on adding to your collection.

Hope this helps a little.

RC has got a good idea. If you're wanting to pair the 2400 with Kyle to pass along Focus, I think adding Wedge could be solid. Trade in all the upgrades for a nice hard hitting X-Wing. With Wedge decreasing enemy agility, getting him Focus and a Target Lock is a good way to really make it hurt and make Critical Hits stick. Throw Veteran Instincts on Kyle to get another solid shot in. By the time Dash goes, defensive tokens are used up and you're ready to ion someone to set them up for next round.

Kyle Katarn

-Veteran Instincts

-Blaster Turret

-Moldy Crow

-Recon Specialist

Having Poe without Push the limit, R5-P9, or R2D2 leaves you without one of the 3 best ace builds atm

The cheapest option to make poe competitiveis to pick up an A-wing expansion, which also gives you cluster missiles which help fill the range 1 donut hole on Dash

99 points Pilots ------

Poe Dameron (40) T-70 X-Wing (31),

BB-8 (2),

Push the Limit (3),

Shield Upgrade (4)

Dash Rendar (59) YT-2400 Freighter (36),

Veteran Instincts (1),

Heavy Laser Cannon (7),

Cluster Missiles (4),

Lando Calrissian (3),

Outrider (5),

Experimental Interface (3)

New player here too. Last night I ran a list very similar to what joker posted. It did ok for me (except got destroyed by TLTs one game). I had proton rockets on Dash though, instead of cluster missiles.

I prefer the bb-8 build (because fun) but as worlds just showed, the VI, R5-P9, AT Poe build is the most competetive. It just also happens to be the most expensive.

If you're just playing home/family/friendly games, you could toy a little with proxying upgrade cards. Kind of a try before you buy. http://xwing-builder.co.uk/buildwhen you go to print, you can include detailed card rules and even a movement dial (for a better look at the possibilities before setting your actual dials) on the print out. Kick it out to PDF and with a tablet, you don't even have to actually "print" out the list.

Your Scum ships have inspired me to go toy with some Firespray-Y-Z-Z lists... I'll come back and post any interesting ones I stumble upon. ;)
