Saving up for my move from TX back to CT... once I am done buying pretty much every book I am missing!
Nexus of Power
Dagobah? New Gear? you know what that means.... We'll finally have stats for a briefcase full of mozzarella sticks!
I always thought they looked a bit more like breakfast sausage links.
And that's an improvement?
I mean look at Luke's briefcase o' food, it looks like rebel rations are packed by a 5 year old planning a camping trip:

Ok let's see what's on the menu:
Top row: Corn bread, granola, graham crackers, chex-mix
Middle row: Tater Tots, Mozzasticks (or hot links), a burrito
Bottom row: Almonds, yogurt raisins, candy corn, walnuts, dried pineapple chunks, hot cocoa mix, marshmallows.
Seriously the Echo Base latrine must have been a horror show....
gif of cut scene from empire where Stormtroopers open a door and a wampa attacks
That unfortunate snowtrooper, being mistaken for toilet paper like that...... he probably had nightmares for years.
Temple Guardian on the cover sold me on the book! 'Nuff said!
I must admit the cover is better than Keeping the Peace... love those temple guardians!
So, stats for the armour? Soak 1; Defence 1; Enc 3; HP 2; any other special stuff? I doubt it'd have cortosis, but perhaps superior? Do we think it'll be informed by the new armour crafting rules from Keeping the Peace?
I'm a bit excited about those armour creation rules, the Jensaarai has always been a favourite... ![]()
Wait, Keeping the Peace is going to have armor crafting rules?
So we are told...
Wait, Keeping the Peace is going to have armor crafting rules?
According to the news articles about it yes... I expect something along the lines of lightsaber construction, perhaps a bit more detailed, but not much.
Here's what the articles says under the heading "Craft and Create": "Keeping the Peace introduces guidelines for making armor, from designing the piece and selecting the materials to the exacting crafting process itself." (source.)
Hmm, I must have missed that. Thanks!
Am I the only one hyped for the Wellspring of Life? Might get some confirmation that the Force Priestesses were Whills.
Also I dig Gungans. I think this is FFG's sly way of letting us know that Snoke from TFA is a Gungan.
Do a lot of people play nonhuman species in your Star Wars games?
I haven't actually played in a SW RPG since before Saga Edition was introduced, and I've bought and read the FFG corebooks without getting to run it yet, so maybe things have changed. But back in the day with WEG and the early d20 versions I almost always saw (and played) humans or, at best, near-humans with slightly exotic features. Maybe every once in awhile, a droid or a Wookiee. This held true even after the prequels came out and introduced so many new alien characters. I know Clone Wars and Rebels have given us nonhuman protagonists who speak Basic (unlike poor Chewie). Has that helped to change things? Or have you guys always played with a diverse mix of species among your PCs?
In my group, thus far is 50/50. As far as I'm concerned, at least from a GM standpoint, more the aliens I have stats for, the better.
Curious to see how Lothal shakes out.
Given the lead time on the books, I wonder if any of the events of the second season (or even the entire first season) will have an impact on how it's presented.
I wonder how close FFG's Lothal will be to the one in the fan made sourcebook "Spark of Rebellion"?
The problem is any race I want to play isn't in the game yet.
No Jawa, no Ewok, no Mirulaka, no Sith, no Rakata etc....

There's a strong suspicion that Jawas will come out in the EoE Technician source book, and I think it's likely Ewoks will show up in a location source book for AoR.
The other two are less likely to show up. Both Rakata and Sith are supposed to be extinct by the time of FFG's books. If they did appear, it would probably be in adventure supplements, and even then not likely intended as playable races but as significant nemesis NPCs.
Who in their right mind wants to play an Ewok? I'm not seeing what they would bring to a game.

Really, I see them the same way Gungans were described in Nexus of Power- A low tech, spiritually strong race with a lengthy shaman tradition.
Ewok's with lightsabers are silly. Ewok with a pet Ruping, a sachel full of poisons and drugs, and the mystical ablity to send animals to scout for it, however...

Pocketspace hand gliders.
Darth Treek a female Sith Lord with a Bowcaster and bombs lots of bombs.

GM Chris, for one. Played one in a TOR campaign back during the SAGA RPG days. My brother, for another; he's playing one in my campaign right now...
That's a rather negative comment, criticizing anyone who doesn't share your apparent distaste for ewoks. Who in their right mind would play a gungan? Or a drall? Or an aqualesh? Or a Wookiee? Or a human? Answer; whoever wants to.

I played an Ewok tribal warrior in an old D6 game years back. The little fuzzball was a lot of fun to play, and was one of the most devastating combatants in the group (no Jedi in that particular party). People either thought he was some adorable teddy bear that was zero threat to anybody (even when toting his spear around) or a fearsome midget Wookiee to be kept at twice arms' length if you knew what was good for you.
I could easily see somebody running an Ewok Soldier/Commando or Spy/Infiltrator as a pint-sized fuzzy murder machine in this system, to say nothing of an Ewok shaman as Rakyados said.
I'm sure the community here could tear apart your preferred choices in what species to play, so bear that in mind when wondering "why would anybody play Species XYZ?"
Keep in mind the Ewoks eat people.
Who in their right mind wants to play an Ewok?
Anyone who wants to work the phrase "yub yub" into a game session. ![]()

Meanwhile, in the Galactic Basic part of the table, the game sails serenely on...

Wait, Gungans are low-tech? These are guys that have shield technology the rest of the galaxy has a hard time replicating and they are able to utilize hand-held plasma bombs. I'm not really seeing low-tech, just a different line of tech development.
Considering how FFG likes to reference WEG I can't help but wonder if they'll bring back the ability to use a survival check to craft things like gliders and catapults.
Could you imagine "With a Hard Survival check you can build a catapult: Sil 2, HT2, Rocks do Damage 2, Crit 5, Range close, slow firing 1, inaccurate 1 with the gunnery skill"
