YouTube "How to Play" examples

By GreyMatter, in Star Wars: Edge of the Empire RPG

Hi folks,

Three out of four of the players in my upcoming EotE campaign are all veteran gamers, so I think they will pick up the nuances of the system's unique features pretty quickly. But one is definitely new to pen and paper, and I'm a bit worried she will get frustrated and lost. She's asked me if I can recommend any YouTube videos on how to play the game.

The problem is...I've only played the game once, and I can't say which (if any) of the extant ones that come up on a quick YouTube search ("how to play star wars edge of the empire") are worth special attention or, alternately, ignoring.

Here's a link to that search. If any of you have suggestions, please let me know!

Thanks!

If you are a GM, read through the beginner game and the GM section of the core rulebook. If you have done that, I advise listening to the Order 66 Podcast which can be found at the D20 radio network. As someone who started GMing a year ago, with this system as my first game as both a player and a GM they have assisted me in understanding so much about the game.

If you are looking for a game to follow along to help you understand the system and get an idea for GMing, I'd recommend:

Star Wars The Tides of Change.

Oy. That “intro” video was way better than the first “real” episode. Yowch. I’m hoping that the later ones are better.

Thanks guys!

Check out “One Shot Podcast” and “Campaign”, both of which are mentioned in the thread over at https://community.fantasyflightgames.com/topic/192443-live-play-podcast-redemption/.

I’m sure there are other “live play” threads that also have good links.

I am a rabid fan of Campaign and it's what got me into this game in the first place, but they're actually not very good for elarnignt he rules. Not only do they skim over and often edit out most dice rolls, they also quite often make mistakes with the rules. ¬_¬
