Help with Street fighter deckbuilding

By dafidboy, in UFS Uk Forum

Hi,

Could somebody please explain the difference between the normal decks (I have the Ryu Vs Akuma battle pack) and the Domination sets.

Are the ones I have out of date or are they all universal? Also can you buy A battle sheet to set the cards up on?

Cheers guys

Welcome to the forum!

The battle packs are old preconstructed starter decks which were made by a company called Sabertooth Games who previously produced UFS. The Domination starter decks are semi-random starter decks which were released together with boosters to form a base set for a previous rotation. If you compare the Ryu and Akuma character cards from each, you will see that they have different symbols, vitality, abilities, etc. You start the game with one character card in play, so you can pick the one that best suits your play style. If you draw a different version of the character you are playing (e.g. you are playing as a battle pack Ryu and draw a Domination Ryu) you can play it as though it were a foundation and attach it to your starting character in your end phase to gain its symbols and abilities.

All of the battle packs and all of the cards from Domination have now rotated out, but as I understand it Legacy format ("open" format) is now the most popular format in the UK by quite a distance so you shouldn't have too much trouble finding opponents who play with older cards :)

Finally, I'm not sure what you mean by a "Battle Sheet". If you mean a playmat which is printed with spaces for your deck, card pool, etc then to the best of my knowledge none have been printed since the paper ones in set one which were too small and not very useful to play with. If you mean printed deck list sheets, etc then there have never been any official ones, and if you mean rubber playmats then lots were given away in various prereleases until a few sets ago so they should still be fairly easy to find if you ask experienced players, check ebay, etc.

I hope that helps!
