Comes in at 100 points clean. Just looking at the viability at this build for standard tourney play. Whisper runs as a flanker with Vader basically jousting and arc dodging, with Academy Ties running interference in a joust. I don't like running only 3 ship builds. Anyone run this before? Thoughts?

I would suggest using Vader as the flanker and have Whisper fly with the academies. Just keep her out in open space where she has all of her decloak options available and use the academies to block the enemy so they have no actions against her 4 attack dice. Whisper is much better at 'tanking' shots than Vader is (provided she shoots first).

Whisper likes to shoot first and, cloak questions later?, be cloaked with a focus afterwards. so an init bid is usually a pretty good thing.

i run a very similar list in my league and im 2-0 at the moment beating 3X-Poe and Kath-Fett (scum).

except i dont run EU on vader instead i run prockets. the extra damage can be BRUTAL. i often find myself switching between Predator and Crackshot when i run with Prockets as you can only re-roll once per turn.

Also instead of running 2x AP, which can be nice blockers i run either Colzet (23) or Tempest (21) with Accuracy correctors.

With keeping the list similar I'd drop EU for Prockets, freeing up 1 point. drop the two AP's for 1 tempest, allowing you to take a crew on whisper, either RecSpec if you like the allure of x3 foci, or Rebel captive if the tantalizing ability to still Soontir Fel gets your jimmies rustled.

either way with a three point crew it would drop you to 98 points allowing a pretty 'okay' init bid allowing whisper to shoot first and cloak with focus later.

I've played the following recently:

Vader (Lone Wolf, x1 title, Advanced Targeting Computer, Engine Upgrade)

Whisper (Veteran Instincts, Fire-Control System, Gunner, Advanced Cloaking Device)

Zeta Ace (Expert Handling)

100 points

It worked very well. I also played a variant, switching Gunner on Whisper for Intelligence Agent, then putting Push the Limit and Hull Upgrade on Zeta Ace instead of Expert Handling. It didn't go as well at all, though it seems solid.

I love the idea of Gunner on Whisper(same with Lone Wolf on Vader), though I currently do not possess one (hoping an eBay purchase this or next week will change that) but I get concerned that she'll become a huge target at that point becoming a 44 point ship. I'm not a fan of 3 or less ship builds, I prefer my strength in numbers as I've typically run whisper with a mini named swarm or a full swarm itself, just picked up a Tie Advanced and figured I'd give it a legit shot.
